Nigeria will overcome her challenges – Mbaka

Rev. Father Ejike Mbaka of the Adoration Ministries based in Enugu on Friday declared that Nigeria will definitely succeed.
Speaking with State House correspondents after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, he assured that Nigeria will overcome the challenges presently facing it.
He said: “We have come to commit the nation into the hands of God and pray for peace and God should establish His blessings in our country.

“We wish to pray for the revamping of the economy. We are committing Aso Rock into the hands of God. We are also here to commit Nigeria to Jesus, that this 2015 ‎Christmas, Nigerians will say God is great.
“Pray for blessing for our people, I want to assure Nigerians that in the midst of what is happening, we shall succeed, the time of promotion is coming,” he added.

On the agitation for Biafra, he said that he did not discuss it with the President, saying: “I am silent on everything about Biafra.”
On the claim that he is controversial, he said: “People can say what they want to say, I am a happy man.”
During the last administration, the clergy had predicted the exit of former President Goodluck Jonathan from power in the period leading to the March 2015 Presidential election.
True to his prediction, Jonathan lost the election to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Biafra not solution to Igbo problems

                                                Chief Ayo Opadokun

The Convener of the Coalition of Democrats for Electoral Reforms, Chief Ayo Opadokun, says the creation of a Biafran state is not the solution to the alleged marginalisation of the Igbo people.
Opadokun said marginalisation was a national problem and therefore appealed to Igbo leaders to agitate for true federalism and support President Muhammadu Buhari.

Opadokun said, “Obasanjo was President for eight years; what did the Yoruba people benefit from him? How many roads were built in the South-West? What exactly can you say that Jonathan did for his people in the Niger Delta? I say this with all sense of justice, not until we end ethnic sentiments and focus on how to achieve true federalism, we will never move forward as a people. This is why we must fight for true federalism
“What the Igbo people are agitating for is a national problem. Young Niger Delta people are complaining of the same issue. I have been involved in reconciliation efforts between the Yoruba and the Igbo race and so far, what we need is good leadership and how to achieve true federalism.”

I Have No Apology Kneeling To Worship God – New Ooni of Ife

                                               new ooni
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has said he owed nobody apology for kneeling to worship God Almighty during the thanksgiving service held in his honour at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Ife.
The Ooni said this in statement by Director of Communication and Public Affairs, Ooni’s Palace, Ile Ife, Mr. Moses Olafare.
The statement read: “It is an unacceptable sacrilege to equate Ooni’risa or other king to the Almighty God. God Is the creator of mankind and it is God that made it possible for the enthronment of any king.
“The attention of Ile Oodua has been drawn to a publication released Wednesday 16th 2015 by an online medium known as NEWSPUNCH in which His Imperial Majesty, Ooni’risa & Arole Oodua Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi(OjajaII) was crtisised for bowing to God.
“God remains the highest, the king of kings who has kept all kings alive and has made it possible for me to be crowned as the king of the source of Yoruba civilisation.

7 Stages of Rituals to become an Ooni Of Ife

The stages are:
1. The Ooni will be received at Ife end of Ife/Ibadan
expressway. He must enter Ile Ife in the day time after his
name has been announced.
2. The Ooni will go to the Giesi Ruling House to be installed as
the Sooko. According to Ife tradition, he must first be the
Sooko of his family before he mounts the stool of Ooni.
3. After his installation as Sooko, the Ooni will head to the
Obalufe Palace to perform rites at the Orunto River inside the
palace, after which, he will proceed to a forest on Ilesa road
for another round of rituals.
4. The Ooni of Ife is also expected to go into seclusion in Ilofi
for a minimum of 21 days for series of rites and initiations.
5. The Ooni will meet an old woman in spirit to receive the
power left by Oduduwa. The old woman will give him all the
power over the Yoruba race.
6. The new Ooni of Ife, Prince Adeyeye Ogunwusi, must
belong to the Isoro society.
7. Lowa Eredumi of Ile Ife, Oba Eluyele Olawenu, acco.rding to
tradition, will officiate at the installation rites.

Which of these stages could be considered fitting of a born-again Christian? We hate the truth in this country. You cannot be an Ooni and a Christian without renouncing the throne.

Simple Ways to Motivate Yourself Every Day

There are myriad psychology models and theories on what motivates us to do the things we do: how we respond to incentives, achievement theories and so on.So how can you remain motivated in a simple way that works every single day? Here are ten ways:

1. Take a Break, You Deserve it

The only way we can perform at an optimal level is create time for rest. The moment you know you can't take any time off is usually when you need it most.
So take that long delayed vacation, and return to your business with renewed enthusiasm.

2. Keep Your Cards Close to Your Chest

Finally running that marathon? Excited about your new diet? Bursting at the seams over your new project? Good. Keep it to yourself.
Announcing your intent to do these feats will backfire. Resist the urge to reap the barrage of Facebook likes, and gushing comments. The positive feedback you receive from you network will trick your brain into thinking you've already accomplished your goal, sabotaging your once-motivated brain to do said feat.
So keep it to yourself and share the good news once you've already done it.

3. Confront Death, and Define Your Legacy

Death is a powerful motivator. We get bogged down in mindless activities. They make us feel like we're accomplishing things, when in reality we're just spinning in circles.
Knowing that you have finite time on this planet helps to sharpen your focus. Everything we do is another step in defining our legacy. This may seem like heady posturing, but both can be powerful motivators.

4. Celebrate the Little Wins, No Matter How Small

Little wins may seem like just that. Little.
Celebrating these wins can help to create positive habits. You break the inertia of mediocrity by teaching everyone around you how to win. They get the chance to bask in that emotion.
Vishen Lakhiani, CEO of Mindvalley has gone so far as implementing what he calls the "Awesome Bell." Which he rings (you guessed it) anytime something awesome happens.

5. Slash Your To-Do List in Half

Slashing your aggressive "to do list" in half will allow room for success. Knowing that it's realistic for you to complete the list is empowering.

6. Be Gentle with Yourself

Stop comparing the accomplishments in your life with those of your neighbor.  The story you create in your head will never be as good, and the reality will never be as bad.
There are many people who are smarter than you. The moment you can embrace this notion - you're free. Free to explore. Free to follow what excites you. Free to ignore what they do, or how they do it, and focus on you.

7. Do What You Love (sort of)

Find what it is you love to do and get proficient at it. Success dwells at the fulcrum of passion and excellence.
But be careful. Make sure that you can make a living from your passion. I'm passionate about a lot of things that I know I'm not so amazing at and that I definitely can't make a living at. I love playing guitar. My daughter loves when I play songs from the movie, Frozen. It's fun. I'm never going to be a rock star.

8. Focus

There is a an anecdote I've heard about Warren Buffett, Bill Gates and Gates' father at a dinner party. A guest asked them what the most important quality for success was today and all three responded, "focus" at the same exact time. They all smiled and laughed to each other because they hadn't really prepared the answer.
We are all inundated with texts and emails. These are no longer just work interruptions. Because of the mini-computers we carry around in our pockets, the flood of information distracts us wherever we happen to be, 24/7.
So turn off your iPhone, stop trolling your ex-lover's Facebook page and get to work.

Player discord’ behind Mourinho exit – Emenalo

Chelsea elected to sack Jose Mourinho after “palpable discord between manager and players” left the club “in trouble”, technical director Michael Emenalo revealed on Thursday.
MourinhoEme
Chelsea announced that Mourinho had left the club “by mutual consent” after a run of nine defeats in 16 games that has seen the Premier League champions slide to within a point of the relegation zone.

Emenalo, who has been at Chelsea since 2007, said that the club’s disastrous form had left owner Roman Abramovich with no choice but to sack Mourinho for a second time.
“The owner is forced to make what was a very tough decision for the good of the club,” said the former Nigeria midfielder.
“Make no mistake about it, Chelsea Football Club, one of the biggest clubs in the world, is one point above relegation in the English Premier League. And that’s not good enough"
“The facts of the matter remain that Chelsea Football Club is in trouble,” he told Chelsea TV. “The results are not good. There obviously seems to be a palpable discord between manager and players. We feel it was time to act.”

95 million Nigerians are illiterates – UNESCO

With 95 million Nigerians illiterate, it is time for government, schools and individuals to take action.
UNESCO’s National Programme Advisor on Education, Dr Mohammed Alkali recently revealed the results of a UNESCO survey that showed that despite improvements to the country’s education system, 95 million Nigerians remain illiterate.
This statistic is alarming for a number of reasons. Illiteracy has adverse impacts at both an individual and societal level. People who are illiterate are far more likely to live in poverty, facing a lifetime marred by poor health and social vulnerability. Economically, the impacts of illiteracy are also sizeable; workplace productivity, unemployment rates and even national GDP are all affected by a country’s literacy levels.
Reducing illiteracy should therefore be viewed as an investment, rather than a cost, for both the governments and households. Overcoming illiteracy in Nigeria will require a long-term commitment from governments, NGOs, educators and parents. We can no longer look to just one group to provide solutions or outcomes.
Working together to implement reforms and programmes that can lead to real change are a matter of national urgency. The future of our country and our people will be closely tied to achieving widespread literacy. Failing this will miss a great opportunity for Nigeria and its citizens. Mustard Bakare is Managing Director, Pearson Nigeria. He wrote from Lagos.
