The Pillars of a successful Marriage

Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars: She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table. She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city, Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him Proverbs 9:1-4 (KJV).
To build a great house you need a strong foundation and pillars; prayer and fasting will never sustain a skyscraper you build without strong pillars. Likewise, marriage needs to be built on very strong pillars to make it stand and weather the storm of life, which may come as wind, flood to test the strength of a home and its stability.
The following resources combine together to make strong pillars for marriage:
1) GODLINESS: Marriage is a godly product. So, it will take a godly attitude to sustain it. Godliness will make you to love God and his son/daughter in your life. Godliness involves living like God, living for God, living in God, living on God, living with God. It involves Christ likeness, obedient to the word of God and humility. Godliness connotes godly attitude like love, tolerance, forgiveness, acceptance, goodness, prayerfulness and friendliness which actually make marriage work.
2) PRAYER: Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened Matthew 7:7, 8 (KJV). Don‘t be careless with your marriage, pray about your spouse’s and your own emotion, actions, reactions, attitudes and characters. Pray against satanic manipulation of your marital choice. Pray against any evil plan against your marriage, spouse and children. Insure your marriage daily with prayers.
3) DIVINE DIRECTION: I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee Psalms 32:8, 9 (KJV). Marriage is like a road to an unknown city; you will need somebody that knows the way to lead you. Only God knows tomorrow, so allow him to lead you into it without regrets. Your eyes may see a beautiful face, but it takes God to show you a beautiful destiny. Don’t just marry anybody, pray and get direction from God.
4) ADEQUATE PREPARATION: The preparations of the heart in man and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord Proverbs 16:1 (KJV). Marriage is a long time journey; it needs to be adequately prepared for. Don’t rush into it. Prepare physically, spiritually, intellectually, emotionally and vocationally. For more on this, get a copy of my book: Preparing for Marriage.
5) WISDOM: Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches. A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength Proverbs 24:3-5 (KJV). Marriage doesn’t work by age, it works by wisdom. Many people are suffering in their marriage today because they lack the required wisdom for a successful family life. Get wisdom through marriage programmes, books, CD’s, DVD and Marriage School.
6) EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION: Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord Ephesians 5:19 (KJV). For marriage to last, effective communication must be in place. This involves truthfulness, sincerity, openness and clarity. Negative statements like: fool, idiot, stupid, mad should be avoided. Use: I am sorry. I love you, you are beautiful. All these positive words will keep your marriage on track.
7) SERVICE: Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others Philippians 2:4 (KJV). Successful marriage is a product of service from two angles. That is, the husband and wife. Those who go into marriage looking for somebody that will serve them will make a mess of their marriage in no time. Serve your partner; don’t wait to be served. Render a helping hand to your spouse at all times even if he is indifferent.

Teach your children about financial independence

Do u Want your children to develop good money habits for life? Then teach them well from the start. Use these tips from parents and top personal finance experts as your lesson plan.To help your kids master essential money skills—and some day break free from you—devote time to financial home schooling. Parents are the biggest influence on their children’s financial habits, more so than work experience or financial literacy courses.

Here are 6 Ways to Teach Your Kids to Be Financially Independent

1. Tie a “No” Today to a “Yes” Tomorrow
“My wife and I have three children, ages 6, 4, and 2. While they are still a little young for in-depth money lessons, we make a point to involve them in family finances and try to make talking about financial responsibility and independence a part of our daily life. This usually happens in a thousand little, ordinary ways. An instance that comes to mind is when my four-year-old son asked if we could go to a local pizza and games restaurant that he loves. I said no, but went on to explain to him that it costs a lot of money for our family to enjoy an evening there. I reminded him of our vacation in a few months and said we were saving up so that we can have a lot of fun on our trip. It was a good way to teach him about the important principle of delayed gratification and the lesson that sometimes you have to say ‘no’ to things you want now, to enjoy better things in the future.” —John Schmoll

2. Let Them Make Spending Mistakes.
“From the time our children were three or four years old, we’ve given them opportunities to earn money by doing chores and projects. When we’re out shopping, they can bring their own money and spend it however they’d like (within reason!). Not only do they learn money management skills, but this helps prevent the ‘gimme’ attitude. If a child sees something they want and asks if we can buy it, I always respond, ‘Do you have enough money for it?’ It also gives them the chance to make money mistakes. They’ve learned valuable lessons when they’ve purchased cheap items that broke almost immediately, and we’ve had great discussions on how to make wise purchases. We’d much rather they made $3 mistakes when they are little to hopefully prevent some $3,000 and $30,000 mistakes down the road.” — Crystal Paine, author of Say Goodbye to Survival Mode?

3. Show Them That Work is Rewarding
“’I get an M&M mama?’ my talkative toddler asks. I reply, ‘Yes, if you complete the job.’ Even at 2 1/2 years old, I’m attempting to lay financial foundations in my son’s life. At this age, he doesn’t care a thing in the world about real money, but when I break out the M&Ms he knows I mean business. That’s because chocolate is a special treat reserved for a reward. At this stage, candy talks, and I can teach my son about finances with food. He is learning that when he uses the potty, picks up after himself, or helps me with a chore, he is paid for his work in delicious, color-coated chocolate candies. He’s beginning to understand that hard work is rewarded. That’s a trait my parents instilled in me, and I desire to pass along. Cash and chore charts will eventually replace sweets, but until then, candy paychecks are perfectly fine by him. Coins just don’t taste as good.” — Kim Anderson

4. Break Out the 24-Hour Rule
“I’m blown away that my teenage daughter still remembers going to the flea market together years ago and learning a cool buying lesson from her mom. (As all us moms know, this is a rare and exotic occurrence!) Though I liked a pair of earrings, I waited a day to think it over, knowing that they would likely still be there if I changed my mind. Sure enough, after a day of thinking about it, I realized they weren’t all that special and that I’d rather wait to get something that I loved. To this day, whenever my daughter and I are out shopping and can’t make a decision, we invoke the ’24 Hour Rule.’” —Beth Kobliner

5. Talk About Debt, Too
“My two boys aren’t quite old enough for serious money lessons yet, but one thing I’m excited to teach them early on is the importance of smartly managing debt. If they want to buy something on their own, like a toy, they’ll have three choices: 1) Buy it now, 2) Save to buy it later, or 3) Borrow money from us. If they choose to borrow, they’ll have payment terms and interest just like a regular loan. My hope is that they can learn the consequences of debt, both good and bad, before it has any real-world implications for them and without the lectures and scare tactics. Then they’ll have the skills and experience to make smarter choices once they’re out on their own.” — Matt Becker
6. Make Them Work for Wants
“A key factor in reaching financial independence is what you spend. Some spending is needed and necessary. But it’s the ‘wants’ that can get people in trouble. Therefore, when our kids ask for a non-essential item, we reply with a two-step plan: 1. First, wait a week. If you still want it, we’ll get it then (most times the ‘want’ goes away by the end of the first day); 2. If you still want it after the week passes, you have to work around the house to earn half of the purchase price—even if you have enough in savings to pay for it. The second step forces them to think if the amount of work required to purchase the item is worth it to them. If they follow through with the required work, then we know that they’re serious about the purchase, rather than just expressing a fleeting, short-term desire.Several times the “acquiring of money to pay for the thing” becomes almost exciting as the actual purchase.” — Kevin McKinley

9 essential tips for Businessmen

Looking for a job can be a long and arduous task that consists of flipping through job postings in the paper, pursuing leads from your own list of connections, perfecting and submitting your resume, and finally preparing for interviews as they come.

Find out how you can improve your overall appearance with these nine business-savvy fashion tips.
1- Dress the part
Always remember that there’s no room for sloppiness when it comes to business attire; make sure you dress to suit the image of a successful professional. Looking your best day in and day out will give you that extra boost of confidence needed to make a good first impression on everyone you meet.
Part of looking good every day is having a wide selection of garments to choose from, so that you can alter your look on a regular basis by properly mixing and matching your business wear items. Keep in mind that you don’t have to spend a fortune to do so; you can find plenty of stylish yet reasonably priced pieces at discount factory outlets or even on sale at your favourite store. Another tip: If you have an important meeting scheduled, borrowing a friend’s classy watch or necktie can keep your look fresh while keeping your expenses low. Of course, you should return the favour once in a while.
2- Follow the dress code
When shopping for work attire, always make sure that the clothing is suitable and in line with your company’s dress code and culture. Stock up on more conservative garments if your employer maintains a more traditional dress code, and opt for more casual business clothing if the dress code is more relaxed.
3- Project a “serious” image
First impressions count for a lot in the business world, and some of you might be worried that you won’t be taken seriously. Perhaps it’s because you look too young, too old, or because you’re known as the office clown.
How to look more sophisticated and be the fashion man with the business plan…
While your attire can’t mask your jokester image, these simple tips can help you project a more mature look, which is important if you are concerned that your qualifications are being dismissed because of your youthful appearance:
  • Wear more serious-looking suits in dark colours (like earth tones), and sport formal accessories such as an expensive watch and cufflinks.
  • Wear a sophisticated pair of eyeglasses.
  • Try a more conservative hairdo and sport a clean-cut facial hair style.

On the other hand, if you’re worried about being perceived as an over-the-hill gent, then consider these simple tips:
  • Update your wardrobe, accessories and hairstyle.
  • Dress code permitting, you might also want to try taking your style down a notch or two on the formal scale.

4- Remember the rules of jewellery
A wrist watch and a wedding band or graduation ring are the only two pieces of jewellery you should wear to the office. Avoid flashy jewellery and visible body piercings, such as nose or eyebrow rings.
5- Master colours & patterns
Most employers are conservative and will expect you to wear dark and traditional-looking suits. Opt for solid or pinstripe suits in dark shades of grey, blue and black. Plaids and patterns are also acceptable where shirts and ties are concerned, just as long as they are subtle and well-harmonized. Opt for long-sleeve collared shirts in white, off-white, blue, black, and classy pastel colours.
6- Get a proper fit
Unless you want to look like a clown, have your garments tailored and learn to optimize your body type by choosing clothing that flatters your form rather than emphasizes your physical flaws.
One way to go about this is by consulting a reputable tailor. He’ll suggest the right padding and tailoring in the suit’s shoulders, which can make your posture look good and make you (and your muscles) look well-defined. A tailor will also fit your shirts, which can help make your waist seem narrower and your shoulders broader. Finally, regardless of whether you’re short or tall, overweight or skinny, he can help you choose the most flattering styles and colours for your body type.
Your Armani suit is useless if you look like a slob…
7- Adopt proper grooming habits
What’s the use of sporting a tailored suit, an expensive watch, fine Italian shoes, and a high-end silk tie if you neglect the rules of grooming? Overlooking certain grooming details can override the effect of wearing even the slickest suit, the most expensive timepiece and the classiest shoes. So make sure you keep an eye out for these grooming details at all times:
  • Keep your hair and nails clean and well-trimmed.

Brush and floss your teeth in the morning and after each meal. You might even want to gargle with mouthwash before meeting with potential clients.
  • Don’t forget to put on deodorant every morning, and don’t apply too much cologne and aftershave.

8- Cover all your bases
You want to look perfect, right? Here’s a list of small fashion details that can hinder your appearance if overlooked.
Socks: Dark socks are usually a smart choice. Make sure that your socks match or complement the rest of your outfit. Warning: Never wear white socks.
Shoes: People notice your shoes (and not just women), so keep them clean and shiny at all times. Remember that they should match your belt.
Pockets: To avoid bulges or the annoying sound of coins clinking, try to keep your pockets empty.
Bag: Avoid walking around with a cumbersome bag; opt for a briefcase or portfolio instead.
Gum: If you chew gum, do so in a subtle manner. It’s advisable that you avoid chewing gum in important meetings with clients or colleagues.
9- Always be prepared
Being well-organized and properly prepared is the best way to minimize fashion blunders. Here’s a quick list of things you should watch out for every day.
  • Always check the weather forecast. It will help you properly choose that day’s outfit, and jacket or overcoat. You’ll also know whether or not you’ll need an umbrella.
  • Lay out what you’ll be wearing the night before (bonus points if you listen to the weather forecast the night before) to make sure everything is clean and properly ironed.
  • Finally, make sure to get a good night’s sleep every night. Sleepy eyes are never fashionable.

Brunei Bans Christmas Celebrations

Officials in Brunei have banned the public celebration of the Christmas holiday, the country’s Religious Affairs Department confirmed yesterday after reports emerged that the authorities raided restaurants and other buildings that had put up holiday decorations.
The tiny oil-rich nation has banned the public celebrating of Christmas, following concern that it will affect the faith of its Muslims.
Lighting candles, putting up decorations and even wearing Santa hats will be off the cards in Brunei this Christmas – with offenders threatened with up to five years in jail.
Any Muslims caught celebrating Christmas, and non-Muslims who are discovered organising celebrations, could face the lengthy prison sentence.

While non-Muslims are allowed to celebrate the holiday within their own communities, they must not disclose their plans to the nation's Muslims – which make up 65 per cent of the 420,000-strong population.

The nation is also home to substantial Christian and Buddhist communities.

Uganda Police commander Kale Kayihura reportedly stripped a leading female opposition party leader naked publicly while arresting her Saturday afternoon.
Zaina Fatuma, a member of the Forum for Democratic Change’s (FDC) National Executive Committee, was stripped and manhandled while being arrested by police at Kanyaryeru in Kiruhura.

The police had blocked the party’s presidential flag-bearer Dr. Kizza Besigye along the Masaka-Mbarara highway from proceeding to Rukungiri where he was expected to hold a rally. The question is why should
why should state resources be used in this manner just to protect the selfish need of anybody?
Why should the police allow themselves to be used this way by greedy politicians in order to protect the selfishness and greed ?
