ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE

The History of Yoruba Beads

Though many know that  beads were one of the products traded in exchange for humans between Europeans and West Africans in the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade era, not many know that the Yoruba had their own bead manufacturing industry at the time.

Evidence of bead manufacture among the Yoruba dates as far as the 11th Century AD. Scientific evidence  exists indicating that blue- green glass beads made in Ile-Ife were being traded outside the Yoruba area long before the era of European contact.

The Yoruba  of the Middle Ages had 3 methods of bead manufacturing
  • They used powdered-glass  to make beads  from finely ground blue, green, and red glass
  • They polished beads into shape from broken glass
  • They drew beads from heated  dark greenish and medium blue glass. This method was considered the most sophisticated and the beads createed differ from the European traded ones found at most sites in West Africa because of their unusual length, method of production and other attributes.

Evidence exists that the glass used in bead production by the Yoruba was indigenous to the region . The composition of the cobalt blue and blue green segi glass used  are not found anywhere else in the world. This means that the glass and the beads made from them  were manufactured in Ile Ife as part of the unique Yoruba glass making industry. Reference : Lankton, Ige, and Rehren (2006)

As well as the visual and decorative power, the Yoruba people attributed  spiritual power and religious meaning to beads.  With this intense faith in beads, Yoruba have made waist beads for fertility, beauty, seduction, necklaces bracelets and many other objects central to daily and religious life using seeds, husks, mollusc shells, cowrie shells, indigenous brass beads as well as indigenous and imported glass beads .  Beads denoted  faith,  and social and religious rank. In  the main, glass beads were for the use of  kings and the royal priesthood, and adorned spiritual objects.

In this photo below, the newly crowned Oonirisa carries a traditional staff of office “Opa Ase”. The Opa Ase is covered in thousands of intricately patterned colourful glass beads. Clearly, beads are an integral part of Yoruba royal heirlooms now as they were centuries ago when they, and human beings were being traded in Africa.

7 Strategies To Become The Best At What You Do

Today in life we are constatntly faced with challenges, do this do that try this and try that and i am here to tell it to you in your face that don't follow everything that everyone tells you to do! You are in control of everything in your life so why should you listen to everything everyone tells you?Even more important why would you like to compare your accomplishment with someone else's? Aren't you your own individual with your own identity? Here are some of my 7 most important tips that i use on a consistent basis that have never failed me and i now won't fail you either if you follow them with a precision!
  1. FIND OUT WHAT YOU LIKE TO DO!

We have herad this over and over and over and did i say over again!Life is beautiful! Life is abundance! Life is happiness! Why would you like to spend an extra minute f not a lifetime doing what you dread? Bills don't we all have them!Strike a balance my friend! Do that job that you hate while you work on what you love!I have come to beleive that you can make a decent income in whatever you like to do and beleive me everyone of us has talent in one way or the other! As a matter of fact we all have more than one talent! So for you to find happiness enriched with longevity you absolutely have to find what you love to do passionately and effortlessly!
  2. PERFECT YOUR PASSION

You have to be at the best at trying to be the best! In short when read what you need to read! Ask the specialists call them on a constant basis! You will be amazed at the abundance of resources out there the minute you decide on what it is you have a desire for!The library, the internet, google.com, yahoo.com, magazines and the list is endless have a wealth of information!Do your homework! It is this perfection that draws attention to your works! You could run and do all the advertising in the world but to maintain your business, happiness, peace of mind etc. your perfection is absolutely mandatory!
  3. BE CONSISTENT

I can not over emphasize on this!I'm not sure how many of us are watching the current soccer world cup series but i am amazed at how my correct prediction of teams to win is! Is it a coincidence that the team that 90% of the times keeps taking shots at the goalkeeper eventually wins? Now i know there are exceptions but this rule of thumb has worked for most of the games i have watched! No matter what the weather is keep on doing what brings love and happiness to your heart! We sometimes listen to other people and the minute they introduce doubt, our confidence subsides!Success does not come that way!You may fail at times but take failure only for what it is, a lesson! Did you know that almost 80% of businesses fail within the first three years?Yet there are thise that are still there no matter what happens! Ever studied their business module? You'll be amazed! When you do what you do with such clarity and precision and happiness i almost guarantee you failure will not be an option! The problem with us is that we want good results NOW!
  4. MONEY SHOULD NOT BE YOUR ONLY DRIVING FORCE

There are a lot of things that we do simply becuase we want to get paid!Nothing wrong with that but truly ask yourself this question is money the only reason your doing what you do? Ever heard of one hit wonders? Wonder what happened to them? See you can never underate the power of a customer!Anything you do wether it's providing a service or a product, your customers can tell if you did it with a passion or you were in a hurry to get the job done! How many times have you gone to a restuarant and after eating the food you instantly knew the chef is having a bad day? Thats exactly how your clients view you!Let the perfection flow and the money will come! I PROMISE!
  5. MONITOR YOUR THOUGHTS

It is pointless to know what your good at if the minute a negative thought takes control, everything is lost!Monitor what you think about and ONLY,YES ONLY focus on the end result!Regardless of the path the destination is of the only thing that should matter!Think of it is as the movie castaway by Tom Hanks! He didn't care that he had landed on a deserted island! His point of concentration was delivering that package and going home!He had no clothes no food and yet somehow he survived! You will be suprised at what you can accomplish if only you think about it!Make it your intention and don't worry to much about the path!
  6. ELIMINATE FEAR

False evidence appearing real! We've heard about it we've experienced it but do we really know what fear is or what it can do! Fortune 500 companies embark on this principle and thats why they terrorize small business especially in advertising. Fact fortune 500 companies don't have the time to know their customers like the mom and pap shop at ther corner!Don't let fear be ther reason you do things you have no intention to do!Instead let fear be your driving force!
  7. HAVE FUN!

Whatever you do make sure your enjoying it to the fullest! I would not waste my time on something that i am not enjoying myself simply because of who you said it someone told me it would be fun!Enjoy this world of abundance and if you fail at least you had fun doing it!

Face Your Fears AND KILL IT

It's easy to ignore our fears and hope that they'll just go away. Unfortunately, they rarely do. If you don’t face your fears, they’ll end up controlling you. How do you face them? The most common way to face your fears is through exposure, where you gradually face the thing or situation you’re afraid of. With the right method of thinking, you'll wonder why you weren't doing it sooner!

Realize that you’re not alone.
There are thousands -- maybe even millions -- of people who are probably afraid of very similar things. For example, more than 50 percent of Americans are afraid of creepy crawlies (snakes, spiders, bugs)! Shaming yourself or feeling embarrassed by your fear won’t help you overcome it, but acknowledging that fear is a normal human emotion can help you find the strength to face yours.

Make a list of your fears.
In order to fight your fears, you’ve got to know what scares you. Sit down and draw up a list of things you’re afraid of. What are they? Where do they come from? What are their origins? When do they seem to crop up? When do they seem not so bad? How do they make you feel? Getting away from the fear and away from yourself -- looking at yourself on paper -- will help you be a bit more logical, a bit more objective about your fear.

 Face your thinking.
Now that you've got your brain wrapped around the fear -- you know where it comes from, you have it broken down into steps -- it's time to wrap your brain around, well, your brain. Remember that your fear is just a way of thinking -- one that you can control. Changing your “internal dialogue,” or how you think about a situation, can change how you respond to your fears.

Rebelo de Sousa wins Portugal's presidential election

A centre-right candidate has recorded an emphatic victory in Portugal’s presidential election, collecting more than half of the vote against nine rivals as voters picked a counterweight to Portugal’s centre-left Socialist government.
With 98% of the votes counted, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, a veteran politician and law professor, won 52.4% of the vote share on Sunday to capture the mostly ceremonial post. His nearest rival had less than half of that and his opponents conceded quickly.
Rebelo de Sousa will move into the head of state’s riverside pink palace in Lisbon on 9 March, replacing Anibal Cavaco Silva, who has served the maximum of two five-year terms.

Women Footballers are Unjustly Labelled as Lesbians — Uwak

Super Falcons striker Cynthia Uwak is not one to hide her feelings over the ill-treatment of women footballers in Nigeria. The two-time African Women’s Player of the Year talked about how Nigerians unjustly label female footballers lesbians

According to her in a recent interview, she said
“I wouldn’t say football makes people masculine. There are lots of players you wouldn’t even know play football. I have a lot of friends who are tomboys but they don’t play football and they look masculine; like they are into sports. People jump into conclusions because they see you dressed this way.People’s mentality is different. There are a lot of the players who wear make-up and dress feminine. I don’t like to wear make-up and that doesn’t mean it’s because I play football. Before I started playing football, I was a tomboy climbing trees and playing with boys but these people are so blinded; they look at one side and don’t see the other side of the world. It’s not only women footballers who are like that; there are a lot of them out there who don’t do sports.”

FG removes kerosene subsidy

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially ended the payment of subsidy on kerosene. Instead of the regulated pump price of N50 per litre, the product will now sell for N83, according to the latest pricing template for House Hold Kerosene released by the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency.
The PPPRA is the agency of the Federal Government that fixes and regulates the prices of white products, kerosene and petrol, across the country.

Biafran Passport is illegal-US, UK

The governments of the United States and the United Kingdom have said they do not recognise the passports being issued by the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra.
The National Director of Information, MASSOB, Sunny Okereafor, had said two weeks ago that the passport was valid worldwide, adding that the travel document costs N5,000 while its renewal costs N2,000
He had said, “I assure you that the Biafran passport is valid. Except Nigeria, other countries of the world accept Biafran passport and allow our citizens to travel with it. In Europe, North and South America, Biafran passport is accepted. Nigeria is the only country that seizes Biafran passport. Go to neighbouring Ghana here, they will stamp the passport for you. Don’t be confused by the propaganda of the Nigerian government that there is nothing like Biafra passport.
“MASSOB appeals to Biafran citizens to procure their passport and use it to travel. If you doubt me, get a Nigerian passport while I have my Biafran passport; when we get to Europe, you will see who they will welcome than the other. Many people with the Nigerian passport have been repatriated, but have you heard of anybody with Biafran passport receiving such ill-treatment?”
However, according to reports from the Deputy Public Affairs Officer at the consulate, Frank Sellin, said, “The United States does not consider passports purporting to be from a Biafra entity to be a valid legal document for purposes of visa issuance.”

Texas man sentenced to life in prison after.....!

A judge concerned about public safety sentenced a 62-year-old North Texas man to life in prison for his 10th drunken driving conviction since the 1980s.
Ivy Ray Eberhardt, of Weatherford, Texas, was sentenced on Monday. Eberhardt would be eligible for parole after serving 15 years.
"Part of my job is to protect the citizens of Parker County, and the only way that I can think of to do that from somebody that has 12 DWI arrests and 10 DWI convictions is to put you in a place that you can't drive for as long as I possibly can," Judge Craig Towson told Eberhardt.
The case involved an April 2014 driving while intoxicated stop in Parker County in which Eberhardt's blood alcohol level was almost four times the 0.08 legal limit for driving in Texas.
While free on bond in that DWI case, Eberhardt cut off an electronic ankle monitor and fled to Colorado, where he was again arrested for drunken driving, prosecutors said.
Eberhardt also had drunken driving conviction in Tarrant and Runnels counties in Texas, records show, and he served three prison terms for the convictions.
Weatherford is 25 miles west of Fort Worth.

Man Beats Wife To Death For Denying Him Sex

A man suspected to be infected with HIV has allegedly beaten his wife to death in Plateau State, north central Nigeria.
The man identified as Benjamin Toma has been arrested after the incident which happened recently.
Plateau State Police Commissioner Chris Olakpe, who confirmed the incident, told journalists on Monday that Toma beat his wife to death and later hanged her body to cover up the criminal act.
According to the state police boss, Chuwang Sambo of Larwa village in Heipang District of Barkin Ladi Local Government, reported to the police that Toma of Foron junction, also in Barkin Ladi, beat his wife, Victoria aged 25, to death and later hanged her body.
Olakpe further stated that “the reason for his action was as a result of his wife’s refusal to summit herself to sexual intercourse.”
A source close to the couple said Victoria consistently denied Toma sex because he had contracted the dreaded HIV disease.
Olakpe said the suspect will soon appear in court after the conclusion of investigation.
