It was gathered that the suspect allegedly raped the girl inside her grandma’s bedroom.

Be ready to jail 5,000 pastors, PFN tells el-Rufai

The Kaduna State Chapter of the Pentecostal  Fellowship of Nigeria, on Tuesday, said the over 5,000 pastors in the PFN would rather obey God than obey the proposed preaching bill currently before the state House of Assembly when passed into law.
The state PFN chairman, Prof. Femi Ehinmidu, who spoke at a stakeholders’ roundtable conference in Kaduna, expressed concern on the bill being sponsored by the state government.
Ehinmidu told the state government to be ready to jail the over 5,000 pastors in the state’s PFN if the government believed it could muzzle the citizens to pass the bill into law.
He argued that the bill remained a recipe for crisis in the state when passed into law.

Nationwide blackout looms as TCN locks out workers

The Transmission Company of Nigeria on Wednesday locked out workers from its headquarters in Abuja over a disagreement with the management and the Federal Ministry of Power, spiking fears that the nation may be plunged into a total blackout in the coming days.
It was gathered that the workers were denied entry into the headquarters of the TCN when they arrived for work in the morning as armed mobile police officers had taken over the premises.
A senior executive of the company told our correspondent that operations were grounded at the TCN as a result of the development and stressed that if the situation was not addressed immediately, it would negatively affect the power value chain.
“Of course, the TCN headquarters is where a lot of transmission activities are being coordinated and directives are given; a few of these transmission activities are also being implemented here. So, grounding activities at the TCN headquarters is not good at all for the entire power value chain, because it may lead to blackout in most parts of the country,” the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the matter, said.

Germany urges Belgium to shut nuclear reactors temporarily

German Environment Minister Barbara Hendricks has asked Belgium to close two nuclear reactors temporarily because of concerns over safety.

The two ageing Doel 3 and Tihange 2 reactors were taken offline in 2012 when defects were found in the walls of the pressure vessels of the reactor.
They were restarted late last year amid concern in the Netherlands and Germany.
Belgium's authorities have rejected the German request, saying there is no need "from a nuclear safety point of view".
Ms Hendricks called for the reactors to be taken offline in response to a report by Germany's independent Reactor Safety Commission.
She said that "on the one hand [the report] says there are no concrete indications that the reactor pressure vessels will not resist the strain; but on the other hand they say you cannot, according to today's knowledge, be sure that they'll resist every possible strain. And that's why we need further investigation."
