Pressure Mounts On Russia Over Civilian Deaths In Syria

Pressure is increasing on Russia over deaths of civilians in Syria, with France and the US urging greater caution.
French Prime Minister, Manuel Valls, and US Secretary of State, John Kerry, said civilians were dying in Russian air strikes.
But Russian Prime Minister, Dmitry Medvedev, said there was “no evidence of our bombing civilians, even though everyone is accusing us of this”.
It was quoted one observers’ group as saying that at least 1,015 civilians have been killed in Russian air strikes.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said late last month that close to a quarter of those killed were under the age of 18.
Russia, an ally of Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad, has consistently denied hitting civilian targets and insists it is battling terrorists.
Mr Valls said his government “respects Russia and Russia’s interests” but “that to re-discover the path to peace, to discussion, the Russian bombing of civilians has to stop”.
Mr Kerry again accused Russia of using so-called ‘dumb bombs’ in Syria that do not hit precise targets. Last week, he said women and children were being killed “in large numbers” by Russian raids.
Mr Medvedev said Russia was “not trying to achieve some secret goals in Syria”, adding that “we are trying to protect our national interests”.

Earthquake Kills 77, Injures Scores In Ecuador

Vice President Jorge Glas says an earthquake has killed at least 77 people and injured more than 500 in Ecuador. The powerful quake of 7.8 magnitude, which was Ecuador’s largest since 1979, hit at 18:58 near the northern town of Muisne.
The mishap has led to an extensive destruction and also destroyed a bridge in Santiago de Guayaquil, the largest city in Ecuador.
Ecuadorian President, Rafael Correa, who was flying back from a trip to Italy, has announced a state of emergency.
“This is a very painful test. I ask the country to be calm and united (and) let’s be strong, we will overcome this.
“Roads and hospitals can be rebuilt (but) you cannot recover lost lives. That’s what hurts the most,” the President said on television.

How to Value people

When I think of people who made the biggest impact in my life, it was not their expertise or accomplishments that provided me with the direction, guidance and reassurance I needed to accomplish my goals. It was their sincere belief in me. They let me know through their words and actions that I mattered.
The people in your life want that same validation. In fact, every single person you will ever meet shares this common desire. They want to know they matter.
Mattering a universal human need. First, you need to fully accept that you matter, and then its incumbent on you to pass this message along. Would the people in your life can answer, “yes” to the following questions:
  • Do you see me?
  • Do you hear me?
  • Do you care about me?
  • Do I matter to you?
1.  Begin and End your sentences with “YOU”
  • I believe in you
  • I hear you
  • I understand you
  • You were awesome
  • You rocked it
  • You amaze me
Imagine where these conversations will take you?

2.  Acknowledge Everyone
When you acknowledge someone, you recognize their value and importance. How about starting the day with a “Good Morning” email or Tweet? Or smiling at each and every co-workers as you pass by them by on way to the office? Or reaching out to a new acquaintance you see in a crowd or bump into in the Blogosphere?  Go out of your way to acknowledge people. Make an effort to “see them”.  Like the Na’vi in the movie Avatar, who greeted one another with the phrase “I see you” as a belief and acknowledgment there is something marvelous in everyone you meet.
3.  Listen With Interest
There is a difference between simply listening to people and listening with interest. This kind of listening requires your ears and heart. Listening with deep interest signifies that you really care about what someone is saying in contrast to simply listening because it is the nice thing to do. If you question whether people can tell the difference, DON’T. They can, and it matters.
4. Ask Mattering not Matter-of-Fact Questions
Question are a window into our minds and intentions. We show people how much they matter by the questions we ask. How important do these questions make you feel?
  • What rocked your world today?
  • Who’s world did YOU rock today?
  • How can I make your day?
  • What can I do to make it better?
5. Be Present
The ultimate present you can give another is your PRESENCE. How many times have you been in a conversation with someone, and you know their mind is in another place? How many times have you felt “un-noticed” when someone was looking right at you? You do not have to be available for everyone in every moment … but when you have someones time and attention; honor it with your presence. Really make that person the center of your attention and experience, even if only for a few minutes.
It does wonders in the mattering department!

6. Encourage and Reassure Confidence
If you’ve had the pleasure of teaching a classroom full of young children, you know how much encouragement matters. Children ask out loud, “Is this ok? Did I do it right? Do you like what I did?  The need the reassurance that we are headed in the right direction, does not stop when you leave grade school.  When you encourage others, you not only communicate that you care and they matter; you add fuel to their motivational fire.

7. Talk About Others
No one likes the person in the family, at work, or at the party who only talks about themselves, their interests, their accomplishments and their importance, right?
You become far more interesting and important when you  talk about the exciting things other people are  doing, trying, creating, writing and sharing.
Doing so gives you the opportunity to make a lot of new friends and establish yourself as someone who is always learning and growing from others. Now, that’s an accomplishment worth talking about.

9.  Offer Hope
At every moment of the day, we are either making the world a better place or making it worse. Our thoughts spread out and become contagious, either positively infecting others or unleashing a plague of negativity, doubt and fear.We have the power to help life someone up or to bring them down. How we interact with those we meet may be the catalyst that sets someone into an emotional tailspin or the spark that provides them with encouragement and HOPE for a better day… or maybe even a better life.

 10. Tell the people in your life how you feel about them
If it doesn’t come natural to you, all the more reason to do it more often. It will begin to feel natural soon. Of course, “You matter” is what everyone wants to hear, but other phrases work just as well:  “I’m happy to see you. You mean so much to me. You’re contribution to the team is immeasurable. I so appreciate you.” The language of mattering is universal; no translation necessary. Tell people and tell them often how much they matter!

Aguero disgraces Chelsea at the bridge

Sergio Aguero continued his rich vein of scoring form with a clinical hat-trick as Man City swept Chelsea  with 3 goals aside, with Thibaut Coutois’ late sending off compounding Guus Hddink’s misery.
Aguero has now scored 13 goals in his last 12 top-flight appearances, and his display helped City temporarily move up to third position, though Arsenal would overtake them if they beat Crystal Palace on Sunday.
The Argentina international was dangerous from the early stages, with he and Pedro having efforts blocked by last-ditch defending inside the opening 10 minutes.
Kevin De Bruyne was a constant menace on his first return to the club who sold him in 2014, playing a key role in Aguero's first two goals, which both came from swift counter-attacking moves.

Official: Aston Villa relegated from Premier League

The west Midlands club have won just three matches in the top flight this season and their drop to the Championship has been confirmed with four games left to play.

Aston Villa have been relegated from the Premier League following their defeat by Man United on Saturday.

The west Midlands club have been rooted to the bottom of the table, having won just three top-flight matches this term, and their relegation to the Championship has been confirmed with four games remaining.

The visitors to Old Trafford needed all three points to be in with any chance of prolonging their stay in England's top flight but a goal from Marcus Rashford ensured that Louis van Gaal's side would consign them to the drop.

France and Germany back Libya unity cabinet

Ministers Steinmeier (left) and Ayrault said Europe was ready to train Libya's security force.

The French and German foreign ministers have made an unannounced visit to Libya, in a show of support for the country's new UN-backed government.

In Tripoli, Germany's Frank-Walter Steinmeier said the EU was ready to train Libya's security forces.
Since 2014 the country has had two competing administrations.
The new UN-brokered unity government is trying to restore peace in Libya, which has been ravaged by conflict since the fall of Col Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.

Western nations hope the Government of National Accord (GNA) - led by Prime Minister-designate Fayez Sarraj - will be able to unite the country and combat an affiliate of the so-called Islamic State, which has a foothold in the country.

'Defending same cause'

"We know how difficult it is to get legal security forces behind this government and so we don't want to underestimate the challenge of fighting against the cancer of Daesh (Islamic State)," Mr Steinmeier said on Saturday.
"We also know that only the Libyans themselves can tackle this task successfully."
Mr Steinmeier suggested the training of Libya's security forces and border guards could start outside the country.

The Power of Your Mind

                                                              Pastor Chris Oyakhilome

One morning, all the employees in a factory got to work and saw a notice written on the notice board:
"Yesterday, the person who had been hindering your promotion in this company passed away. You are invited to join in the funeral."

Who could it be? They were sad for the death of one of their colleagues.
Afterwards, one-by-one they gathered at the grave side, mainly, to know who exactly the man was.
'Well, at least the man who had been delaying my progress is dead now and I will be able to progress'. These and many more were their thoughts.
One by one the thrilled employees got closer to the coffin but when they looked inside it they were speechless. They stood, shocked, in silence for what they saw. There was a mirror inside the coffin and everyone who looked inside could only see him/herself reflected in the mirror.
There was a sign next to the mirror that read:
"There is only one person who is capable to set limits to your progress...It is YOU - your SELF.
You are the only force who could influence your happiness, success and realizations"
Your life does not change when your boss, friend or company changes.....your life changes when YOU change... You go beyond your limiting beliefs as you realize that YOU are the major determining factor of your life. It's the way YOU face life that makes the difference!

When an egg is broken from the outside...life ends. But if an egg is broken from the inside, life begins. Great things always begin from inside of us and never from the outside.

Get to work now. Begin to change your life from the inside today.

Ghana tightens borders in wake of terrorist threats

                                                        Mr Francis Palmdeti

Security has been beefed up at Ghana’s border crossings as the threat of terrorists attack heightens in the country.
The Head of Public Affairs at the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), Mr Francis Palmdeti, told reporters on Sunday that the entire security system had been put on high alert.
The precautionary measures come in the wake of a security alert issued by the National Security Council over a possible terror attack on Ghana.
“The service has also stepped up profiling and screening at all entry points – approved, unapproved and suspected entry points – to ensure that security is not in any way compromised,” he said.
“We are in a state of perpetual alertness,” he said.
“The National Security Council on the basis of briefings by the intelligence agencies and partners, has determined that there is a credible terrorist threat to all countries in the sub-region. Already there have been attacks in Mali, Cote d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso.
He said the GIS would continue to up its activities and would restrict the entry and exit of persons with questionable credentials.
