How to shut up: learning to keep quiet

You may be tempted to say out every thought that occurs to you, but sometimes it's best to keep your mouth shut.Great men and great women always keep their mouth shut because it is not time to talk.

The art of silence
Silence can be quite empowering, so by learning the art of silence you will feed your spirit and soul. It's difficult for a lot of people to embrace and experience the value of silence. There is often pressure to fill the atmosphere with words. Being comfortable with silence and your own solitude is useful – it's when we pause that we afford ourselves a space to digest what is being said and to think of a response. We get to listen to not only what is being said, but also what is not being said. Comfort in handling silence lends itself to a confident demeanour.

In relationships
It's hard to decipher between being right and being happy. There are times when pushing to be right can compromise our happiness in relationships. Choose to be quiet if the relationship is more important than just about winning the argument.

If you'll regret it, don't say it
When you have nothing to say, don't spoil your silence by saying something you will regret. As long as your body language is not communicating something different, feel free to just keep quiet and observe the situation.

 Be compassionate
When someone is in despair and sharing their pain or challenges with you, shut up and listen. If you have to open your mouth, encourage them with words of strength. It is not time for you to steal the limelight just because you have been through the same experience. It doesn't have to be about you all the time, so hold your tongue and acknowledge the other person and their need to vent. By honouring their expression of pain or guilt, they will want to confide in you again in the future.

The 7 Sleep Habits of Successful Entrepreneurs

We all know lack of sleep is harmful to our health -- sleep affects mood, increases risk of psychiatric disorders and depression, cardiovascular disease and lowers immune system health. Yet the stress of running a company and long working hours means entrepreneurs often find themselves functioning on little sleep.Getting seven to eight hours of sleep a night is a critical component of entrepreneurs' business success. Sleep affects our executive function; the area of the brain responsible for decision making, creative thinking, memory and reaction time.
Follow these seven sleep habits and dream your way to business success:

 Avoid alcohol before bedtime.
While alcohol may help you fall asleep, it will affect the quality of your slumber. "Sleep is lighter, you have less REM (the deepest stage of sleep). Alcohol can also wake you up in the middle of the night. Many people wake up after about four hours, because that’s how long it takes to metabolize alcohol, then they have trouble getting back to sleep. Although studies have shown a glass of wine at dinner can have positive effects on cardiovascular health,to avoid drinking any alcohol within three hours before bedtime.

 Turn off electronics before bedtime.
Shutting off gadgets an hour before bedtime is far better for your health. The light that's emitted [from the screens] slips your neurotransmitters into an awake position. Our gadgets also force our brains to stay active when they really need relaxation time to distress before bedtime. It is better to use the hour before bed to do something relaxing and enjoyable like reading a book or having a chat with your partner.

 Write your worries away.
If you find yourself lying in bed stressing about the events of the day,i recommend you to keep a worry journal to write down the issues that are bothering you. For those who find their heads swimming with to-do-lists, putting the list on paper rather than thinking about it can help to clear your head and shut off your mind before bedtime.

 Create the perfect sleep ambience.
The optimal sleep environment is one that's cool, dark and quiet. Part of becoming drowsy in the evening is that your core body temperature starts to drop. Eliminate noise and light distractions by charging smartphones outside the bedroom door to avoid the glow, the ding and the temptation to get up and check on something.

 Exercise.
Exercise promotes healthy sleep patterns by releasing serotonin and dopamine. These are the same neurotransmitters that are important for regulating our 24-hour sleep-wake cycle, known as the circadian rhythm.

 Avoid sugary snacks before bedtime.
If you have love for a snack,i am recommending you to grabbing a bite containing protein and fat such as yogurt rather than one containing starch or sugar. "[Protein and fat] have very low glycemic levels which means they will give a steady release of energy throughout the night,". Simple carbs or sugary snacks give you a quick burst of energy, followed by a crash which can disturb the quality of your sleep.

 Wake up to the light.
The morning is just as important to your sleep habits as the evening. Getting sunlight when you wake up re-sets your body's circadian rhythm, helping to ensure you're more tired at night. Enjoy your morning coffee sitting next to a large window is a great way to start your day right.

MTN Nigeria Acquires Visafone

MTN, Africa's leading mobile phone operator, has finally sealed the deal to acquire Visafone, the only surviving Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) operator in Nigeria, owned by the banking magnate, Mr. Jim Ovia.
The acquisition of Visafone, the only surviving CDMA operator in Nigeria, by MTN, a GSM operator, marks the final death of CDMA operations in Africa's largest economy.
Though, MTN is yet to make official announcement of the acquisition, but inside sources confirmed the development.

I got N150,000 to install Radio Biafra transmitter – Suspect

A telecommunication maintenance engineer, David Nwawuisi, has revealed that he got an initial payment of N150,000 to install a Radio Biafra transmitter on an MTN mast in Ngwo, Enugu State. The 29-year-old, who was on the payroll of Ericsson, the firm managing mast sites for MTN, revealed this in a statement which he made to the Department of State Services on July 27, 2015.
Nwawuisi, who disclosed that he was managing 45 MTN sites for Ericsson, said the Radio Biafratransmitter had operated for three months on MTN mast before it was discovered and his subsequent arrest by the DSS on July 15, 2015.
Nwawuisi, who obtained a B.Sc degree in Biochemistry from the Enugu State University of Science and Technology in 2010, said he was being paid N73,000 plus per month by Ericsson.
He stated that it was the same amount he was being paid as a trainee when he joined the company as a trainee in 2014.
According to him,“I came to know about Chidiebere and Obioma one day the security woman called me to tell me that that they will like to install a radio ( transmitter) on one of my sites at Ngwo in Enugu State and I told them that I don’t know who they are that if they can make out time so that we can see face to face because I don’t know them and that was in May.
“So the next day, they called me. I was working in one of my sites at St. Michael Catholic Church Asata in Enugu State. I asked them to come down to that site and that was the place I saw them for the first time and they introduced themselves as Chidiebere and Obioma. They also asked for my name and I said David. They also asked for my native name and I said Chukwugozie and from there Chidiebere started saying that the radio (transmitter) they are asking for my permission to install in my site is to help them educate our people (Igbo) and let them know their brothers and where they come from….
“They called me again to remind me of that and that was when I told them ok and we agreed that they are going to be paying N25,000 only per month which they paid six months upfront. N75,000 cash was given to me that day they came for the installation and out of that I gave N5,000 to the security woman. The balance was paid into my account at Ecobank after the First Bank (account) I gave to Obioma failed to accept the payment.
“The payment of the balance was done two weeks after the installation of the radio (transmitter). On three different occasions, Chidiebere and Obioma called me to do some maintenance on the radio (transmitter). I gave them access into the site and left and when they finished, the security woman informed me that they are through and I came and locked the site.
“The items Chidiebere came (with) were an electronic that looks like a decoder and a DSTV dish which was installed on the fence. The other items were installed inside the MTN site shelter. The equipment has been there for three months and on July 15 the MTN staff went to the site and called me from the site and asked me what the equipment is. The name of the MTN staff is Mr. John Ibekwe. When he was calling, I couldn’t get what he was asking due to the environment because I was driving and when I parked, I called the security woman to ask her and she told me that is the equipment that Chidiebere and Obioma installed that his asking of.
“I called back the MTN man to tell him what the equipment is for, that is a Radio Biafra (transmitter) that was installed by Chidiebere and Obioma. I told him that I will like to see him which he asked be to come to Shoprite and I came and after I was taken to the MTN office by the MTN security patrol team. From the office, after telling them how the equipment came about and how I got to know about Chidiebere, I was taken to Enugu DSS office.” (sic)
He stated that the MTN thereafter uninstalled the Radio Biafra transmitter.
The prosecution alleged that the transmitters were smuggled into Nigeria by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, and were discovered during a search in Madubugwu’s residence.
The Federal Government had charged Nwawuisi and Benjamin Madubugwu along with the founder of Radio Biafra and Kanu, with treason and other related offences including management and assisting in the management of an unlawful society (IPOB).

Secrets of Couples Who Stay Together Forever

1. Never underestimate the value of asking your partner how his day went. Niceties don't become any less nice just because they become routine. At the end of the day, even if you felt like no one cared about anything you did, at least you know your partner will not only care but want to know details.

2. Some fights are just fights. They don't have to be deal breakers. You can be madly in love with a person and still be mad at that person. Fights don't have to spell The End. Couples that stay together choose the relationship over the conflict.

3. Accept that relationships come with obligations. You might not want to do everything your partner wants you to do with him—work events, seeing a band he likes, even errands—but you also know it makes him happy to have you by his side, which makes doing those things totally worth it.

4. But be honest about which events you feel strongly that your partner attend. Not everything can be a must. He knows to tell you that it's really important you attend Passover seder every year but will live if you decline an invite to his friend's Super Bowl party. You're both fair about it.

5. Little surprise purchases go a long way. Does your partner love mint chocolate chip ice cream? Picking some up while you're at the store shows you were thinking of him even while going about boring everyday chores like restocking the milk.

6. Don't force group or double dates when all couples aren't friends. You don't have to share the same friends. It's OK to still go out one-on-one with your girlfriends, even if you're all married. The guys don't have to be friends just because you are, and not every conversation is a group conversation anyway.

7. Kiss hello before doing anything else when you get home. Kiss good-bye when you leave. It's always just the sweetest if he has to go to work extra-early but stops by to kiss you quickly while trying not to wake you. Or when he walks you to the door when you head out. And an immediate kiss when you reunite at the end of the day means you care about each other above all else.

8. Sometimes you have to say no to invitations so you can spend time with each other. Just because your calendar is blank one night doesn't mean you have to agree to plans if someone asks. Life gets weirdly busy as you get older. It's nice to use that free time to just be together.

9. Treat his family like yours. They love to know you think of them as family. And your partner will love to see you treat them like your own family. Call or text from time to time. Hang out with them when your significant other isn't around.

10. More "I love you"s are better than fewer. Three words that just never get old. You're seriously not going to say it too much.

11. Be sympathetic when your significant other is sick. Maybe it means canceling dinner plans and picking up soup. Maybe it means running to the drugstore for more cough drops. Don't complain. No one gets sick on purpose, and if the situation were reversed, you know he'd take care of you.

12. Take on more of the errands/household chores when the other one is swamped at work. No, you don't want to do laundry, but you do it to make your partner's life easier. And by checking things off your mutual to-do list, you'll be more likely to do things you actually enjoy together when his schedule frees up. Plus, you'll have a crazed period at some point too, and it all evens out in the end.

13. Don't make jokes at each other's expense. Be respectful and think about what he'd want you to share with a group. He's your partner, not your punch line.

14. Be on time. So many meaningless fights can be avoided by being on time. Start your eyeliner 20 minutes earlier than you think you need to. Chances are either you or your partner, or someone in the party you're meeting, is sensitive about punctuality, so be there when you say you will so you don't avoid anyone the wrong way and seem rude.

15. If someone talks sh!t about your husband, defend him. Even if you're generally too polite to correct people or call them out on rudeness, sometimes you have to make an exception. After all, you're supposed to be each other's biggest supporters.
