JOB DESCRIPTION
Are you a highly-skilled IT Support Engineer specializing in
database administration, with experience in providing operational support on a
range of platforms in a large and complex IT infrastructure.
Job Purpose
To undertake the day to day administration and support of Oracle
databases, the services and applications they run, and to contribute to the
design, development and support of associated University computing and IT
services. To assist in the deployment and ongoing administration and support of
a range of applications which run on the Oracle database platforms.
Core Skills
Ability to support and maintain the Company’s Central Oracle
databases
Experience of managing routine service requests and
issue/incident resolution
Excellent analytical/problem solving skills
Ability to rapidly assimilate detailed technical knowledge
in specialist areas
Essential Skills
Advanced working knowledge of Oracle database software
A good knowledge of databases, database design and
administration
Experience of Unix and Linux operating systems
Experience working within an IT framework
Desirable Skills
Knowledge of other databases such as MS SQL
Experience of MS Windows operating systems
Demonstrable project delivery and change management skills
Qualifications
HND/Degree level or equivalent relevant experience
(Essential)
Professional accreditation in computer science and / or
Oracle (Desirable)
