President of Church of Christ in
Nations (COCIN), Rev. Dachollom Datiri, has warned the Nigerian National Assembly
against passing into law, a bill to legalise Shari’a.
According to him, such moves may
ignite religious war in the country.
Rev. Datiri stated this when he addressed clergymen at the 19st General Church Council meeting at the
Church’s Headquarters, in Jos, capital of Plateau State.
He said the National Assembly
should have a rethink on the bill for Shari’a Law which has passed Second
Reading.
He added that the inclusion of
such law into the 1999 Constitution, as amended will lead to general collapse
of the country.
