Nnamdi Kanu: A Paper Tiger playing Revolutionary.

Nigeria Criminal Code Chapter 77 number 42.states:
Any person who, without lawful authority, carries on, or makes preparation for carrying on, or aids in or advises the carrying on of, or preparation for, any war or warlike undertaking with, for, by, or against, any traditional chief, or with, for, by, or against any band of citizens, is guilty of a felony, and is liable to imprisonment for life.

We warned this guy and his gang to be weary of their tactics. I wrote a Facebook post prior to his arrest warning that he was attracting undue attention to himself. He simply exposed himself through empty threats, he played into the hands of the government. No serious country, will allow his actions. You do not incite wars and go about soliciting arms to prosecute war against a sovereign nation and expect not to get burnt.
DSS is playing a political game with him; they may not demand the maximum penalty for his offense, but surely he may be in for a long ride. They can afford to keep in the box for decades; if you doubt the capacity of the Nigerian government to do so, ask Henry Okah, even people with credible causes have been sentenced to death by the Government e.g. Ken Saro Wiwa, let alone a paper tiger playing general.
Kanu allowed himself to be caught on tape calling for the massacre of Hausa and Yoruba citizens of Nigeria, that offense alone can get him jailed for life. Some idiots who know nothing about international system are calling for UN to intervene claiming Fundamental Human Rights and freedom of speech. No country will allow hate speech especially when you are caught on tape making direct threat against specific groups. He took pictures with some toy soldiers bearing arms, he went around raising funds for an armed invasion against a sovereign country. He was hailed by semi-illiterates and edged on by selfish politicians.
The main reason why government come after people like Kanu with serious intensity is to deter others. If FG should give in to cheap blackmail by releasing Kanu without strict sanctions, it will serve a precedence for other rag-tag hate groups to manipulate ethno-religious sentiments for selfish ambitions. Yes, you have a right to self-determination, but you do not have a right to declare war against a sovereign nation or call fro violent attacks against others.
