Why You Should Never Eat Tilapia

Tilapia has become the ubiquitous fish in our world today. It’s cheap, not “fishy” tasting, boneless and skinless, and is hard to mess up by overcooking, which is a problem with many other fish varieties.Tilapia has become the ubiquitous fish in Africa today..However, the tilapia we’re eating is almost entirely a farmed fish meaning you cannot find wild tilapia in any restaurant menu. And the farming is usually done on an industrial scale, with thousands of fish being harvested every day.
Why is Tilapia is So Bad for You?
 1. Inflammation:
Recent Studies have found that farm-raised Tilapia may cause inflammation.tilapia has always been a popular source for fish, not only because it is widely available in the Africa, but it is also very inexpensive. However, before you stock up on Tilapia, you may want to know about its correlation to inflammation.Recent studies have concluded that eating Tilapia may worsen inflammation that can lead to heart disease, arthritis, asthma and a world of other serious health problems. People who resort to eating more fish as a way to get their dose of omega fatty acids and lessen their risk of heart attacks may want to hold off on the tilapia. In fact, scientists have found that the inflammatory potential of tilapia is far greater than that of a feed-lot hamburger or bacon.

2 .Cancer Causing Pollutants
Farmed fish like tilapia may have at least 10 times the amount of cancer causing organic pollutants compared to the wild variety – This can most likely be attributed to the feeds that are used on farm raised fish. If you knew what went into the feeds of farm raised fish you would be horrified. Apparently, chicken feces is one of the main ingredients that go into farm fish feed. Not only that, the transfer of pig and duck waste to fish farms is also a very common practice.

3. Pesticides and Antibiotics
Farm-bred fish have been found to have high concentrations of antibiotics and pesticides  – Where do farm-bred fish get their antibiotics? The crowded conditions of fish farms cause the fish to be more susceptible to disease. To keep them alive, farm owners give antibiotics to the fish to stave off disease. Farm-bred fish are also treated with pesticides to combat sea lice. The pesticides used to treat these fish are so deadly that they have been caused to kill wild salmon that are accidentally exposed to them. These pesticides are also eventually released in the ocean where they get into the bodies and systems of other marine life.

4. Poor Omega-3 to Omega-6 Ratios
Farm-bred fish also have lower levels of healthy nutrients- Many of us consume fish, hoping to reap the omega-3 fatty acid benefits that come with it. However, did you know that the omega-3-acids that are found in farm-raised fish are less usable to our bodies compared to wild bred fish. Farm-raised fish also has a lower protein content. Not only that, because farm-raised fish are kept in cages, they have the tendency to be fattier, and can have a higher concentration of omega-6 acids. The problem with getting too much omega-6 acids is that they may cause inflammation to the body due to imbalance.

MICHAEL JACKSON'S GHOST IMPREGNATED ME :IM SUING FOR CHILD SUPPORT

A 32-year-old Los Angeles woman is claiming that she was impregnated by the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, and is now suing his estate. Kiera Johnson, the married mother of two, claims that she was raped by the ghost of Michael Jackson – and her white husband Ken Johnson is sticking by her side.
Kiera claims she was watching the 2 hour Michael Jackson 30 Year Anniversary Special on DVD which aired on HBO in 2001 when she suddenly dozed off during the performance of Thriller. It was at that point, things went horribly wrong. “All of a sudden, I was awakened by a hand caressing my face. But I was home alone, my husband was at work,” Kiera recalls. “The next thing you know, I’m having this erotic encounter with Michael Jackson. But it wasn’t the white Michael Jackson, he was black, and dressed like he was straight out of the Thriller video. I told him to stop, but he would listen.”
Kiera thought nothing more about the “realistic encounter” she had with M.J. – until September 25, 2015 when she gave birth to her third child. “Everything was going well with the birth,” said her husband Ken. “But then when I saw my son, and he was black, I said ‘What the hell is this!’ I was in absolute shock. That’s when Kiera told me about her terrifying dream. I think it’s wrong what happened and that’s why we are suing Michael Jackson’s estate. We just want a decent amount of child support to help raise his son.”
Kiera insists she has never cheated on her husband Ken with anybody of any race. Ken says he believes his wife and has no reason to not trust her, she is his “queen.” The Johnsons say they are willing to accept an out-of-court negotiation and are giving the Jackson family until January 1, 2016 to respond. As of yet, the Jackson family has not responded publicly to the allegations.
This is real humor.just laugh and tear your intestine out.

Where are the youths in the change mathra?

Image result for youths
In 1973. Gen. Yakubu Gowon (pictured) was the then Nigerian Military President. He is seen shaking hands with baby Justin Trudeau – the son of the then Prime Minister of Canada, Pierre Elliot Trudeau.
Now, in 2015, Justin Trudeau is the leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, and set to be the next Prime Minister. That is progressive! That is Change!!

But in Nigeria, we are still having recycled leaders attempting to rule and dictate to us. When will they let young, vibrant and intelligent men…the youth of today…contest in a free and fair election?
What is even more frustrating about the “African paradox” is the huge age gap between the leaders and the commom citizens. It sounds incredible, but 85% percent of Angolans were born after Dos Santos had come into power in 1979; 83% of Zimbabweans were not born yet when Mugabe came into power as prime minister in 1980; 79% of Ugandans came along after Museveni had assumed office in 1986. It means that only between 15% to 21% of the people were alive when these presidents took the helm of the respective states.
The issue of the age at which African leaders for some reason refuse to retire is a rather urgent one. After Robert Mugabe had  it became clear – he was no longer able to retain the needed alertness and keep up with the times. Why is Africa so “overcrowded” with the leaders who should be enjoying their retirement in peace and quiet, instead of in the political corridors, campaign trails and taxing political brinkmanship challenging even younger leaders?
One common feature that unites most African states is the presidents “for life” of venerable age. One of the most long-serving presidents has been ruling for whooping 36 years (editor’s note: Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, the leader of Equatorial Guinea; became president in 1979), while Robert Mugabe, the president of Zimbabwe, who is now 91, appears the oldest leader in the world.
In general, the median age of the 10 oldest African leaders is 35 years more than that of the leaders of the world 10 most developed countries – 78.5 vs. 52. At the same time, in comparison to other continents, Africa has the smallest proportion of young leaders between 35 and 55.

Why so?

Reason number one: the masterly use of brute force and violence to terror the opponents. Reason number two: the combination of political machinations and corrupt practices. Reason number three: the supporters of the “old guard” argue that with age come wisdom, foresight and experience. This is rather questionable judging by their declining economies and sociopolitical uncertainty. However, being seen as “fathers of the nation”, such leaders still enjoy reverence and loyalty of the people.
With no doubt, the longevity of the old leaders in the office is one of the reasons why there are no credible and youthful successors. But this does not explain why most African countries are still stuck to the leaders in their twilight years. The question is: are African youths unable to exercise their ability to decide on their own destinies or the correlation between their leaders’ age and their floundering fortunes?
Unfortunately, the answer is affirmative. Much of the progressive world has embraced the innovativeness of youth – its energy, vibrancy, adaptability, willingness to embrace change and enthusiasm to learn. Africa, on the other hand, is lagging behind, unable to keep pace due to its outdated aging leaders.

ARCHAEOLOGISTS DISCOVER REMAINS OF EGYPTIAN ARMY FROM THE BIBLICAL EXODUS

  • Army Red Remains Egyptian

Egypt’s Antiquities Ministry announced this morning that a team of underwater archaeologists had discovered that remains of a large Egyptian army from the 14th century BC, at the bottom of the Gulf of Suez, 1.5 kilometers offshore from the modern city of Ras Gharib. The team was searching for the remains of ancient ships and artifacts related to Stone Age and Bronze Age trade in the Red Sea area, when they stumbled upon a gigantic mass of human bones darkened by age.
The scientists lead by Professor Abdel Muhammad Gader and associated with Cairo University’s Faculty of Archaeology, have already recovered a total of more than 400 different skeletons, as well as hundreds of weapons and pieces of armor, also the remains of two war chariots, scattered over an area of approximately 200 square meters. They estimate that more than 5000 other bodies could be dispersed over a wider area, suggesting that an army of large size who have perished on the site.
This magnificient blade from an egyptian khopesh, was certainly the weapon of an important character. It was discovered near the remains of a richly decorated war chariot, suggesting it could have belonged to a prince or nobleman.
Many clues on the site have brought Professor Gader and his team to conclude that the bodies could be linked to the famous episode of the Exodus. First of all, the ancient soldiers seem to have died on dry ground, since no traces of boats or ships have been found in the area. The positions of the bodies and the fact that they were stuck in a vast quantity of clay and rock, implie that they could have died in a mudslide or a tidal wave.
The shear number of bodies suggests that a large ancient army perished on the site and the dramatic way by which they were killed, both seem to corroborate the biblical version of the Red Sea Crossing, when the army of the Egyptian Pharaoh was destroyed by the returning waters that Moses had parted. This new find certainly proves that there was indeed an Egyptian army of large size that was destroyed by the waters of the Red Sea during the reign of King Akhenaten.
For centuries, the famous biblical account of the “Red Sea Crossing” was dismissed by most scholars and historians as more symbolic than historical.
This astounding discovery brings undeniable scientific proof that one the most famous episodes of the Old Testament was indeed, based on an historical event. It brings a brand new perspective on a story that many historians have been considering for years as a work of fiction, and suggesting that other themes like the “Plagues of Egypt” could indeed have an historical base.
A lot more research and many more recovery operations are to be expected on the site over the next few years, as Professor Gader and his team have already announced their desire to retrieve the rest of the bodies and artifacts from was has turned out to be one of the richest archaeological underwater sites ever discovered

Namibian IT student develops the country’s own social networking service

Gerson Mangundu Namhook developer. Photo:Facebook
Namibian whizz-kid, Gerson Mangundu, currently studying information technology in Cuba, has developed Namibia’s own social network service called Namhook.
According Mangundu, the development of the service which took him a whole year to conclude, did not come on a silver platter as it required a great deal of hard work and sleepless nights – something that was extremely challenging for him as he had to divide his time between developing the app and school work.
The IT student described Namhook app as “a network of networks” which has all the features found on giant networks plus its own unique features. He added that it will go a long way in helping the Namibian people to connect and stay in touch with all their families and friends who live in the country and the world over

Namhook which was designed as a social media hub is not just a socialising service as it plays a pivotal role in the country’s business platform where it has helped Namibian businesses reach a wider market in the country via its online shopping hub.
“We are also launching safe online shopping where shops in Namibia will be able to sell their products to the rest of the nation via Namhook hence helping them expand their business,” explained Mangundu clarifying that their mission is to get all Namibians to connect to their app which has about 2 130 members currently.
The app has also come in handy in solving many problems that the upcoming local businesses usually face, by providing a platform for free advertisements and also for artists to sell their songs on the web to their fans rather than vending on the streets to sell their CDs.
The site which went live in January 2015 has, so far, received good feedback.

Suya meat! why you should stop eating it

What is Suya?
If you are reading this, you probably know what Suya is. But by way of definition, Suya is a spicy skewered meat which is a popular food item in various parts of Nigeria and is enjoyed as a delicacy in many parts of West Africa. It is traditionally prepared by the Hausa people of northern Nigeria, Cameroon, Niger, and some parts of Sudan.
Health and Safety Issues Associated With Suya Consumption
Forget the dirty environment and poor or zero hygiene conditions in which Suya is made and handled in many places in Nigeria, there are other dangers that are inherent in the consumption of Suya – those that many would never know unless they are Food professional or have come across an article like this that explains it.

1. Suya and Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs)
You know when they say Cigarette kills? It is majorly due to the PAHs they contain. Many Suya sellers make their Suya by burning all sort of woods and charcoal to make their fire. Some even throw in such things as plastics to make their ember burn brighter in order to cook the Suya meat. Many of these materials burning under the meat contain these Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons — and do you know what these PAHs do in the body after enough consumption or exposure?
Post Image
Some PAHs are chemical carcinogens (cancer-causing compounds) while seven PAH compounds have also been classified as probable human carcinogens.
Some PAH compounds are mutagens. Mutagen is a physical or chemical agent that changes the genetic material (DNA).
According to a finding, reported in an article on health.usnews.com, high prenatal exposure to PAH is associated with lower IQ and childhood asthma.
2. Potential of contacting zoonotic diseases
A zoonotic disease is a disease that can be passed between animals and humans. Since Suya meats are generally undercooked and in rare occasions carrying some blood on them, there is a chance that one could contact zoonotic diseases from Suya.

Take for example, during the Ebola Virus Disease outbreak, we were warned to stay away from Monkey and Bat meats. There was also a stern warning to always cook our meats very well before we eat them. Cooking meat very well cannot really be said of Suya.

Other type of diseases that can be passed from animals to humans include, LEPTOSPIROSIS, BRUCELLOSIS, BUBONIC PLAGUE, SALMONELLOSIS, etc.

3. Beef Tapeworm (Taenia saginata)
This is commonly known as the beef tapeworm – a zoonotic tapeworm. Like it was mentioned above, humans majorly get infected by consuming undercooked beef. The infection is may come without any noticeable symptoms but heavy infection can also occur with attendant symptoms. Heavy infection often results in weight loss, dizziness, abdominal pain, diarrhea, headaches, nausea, constipation, chronic indigestion, and loss of appetite. Heavy infections may cause intestinal obstruction in humans — this can be alleviated by surgery.

Suya can be very delicious and make a good delicacy if well cooked and appropriate types of woods are used for smoking.

For example, it is advised to cook/heat the Suya meat to a safe internal temperature around 80 degrees Celcius or more. Avoid adding plastics or fuels such as kerosene to the fire to make it burn better.

Amaechi Approved As A Minister Of The Federal Republic of Nigeria

The former Rivers governor and director general of the 2015 All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign organisation, was approved after a series of questions had been asked by senators.
There was mild drama at the beginning of the session as the minority leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus had no questions for the nominee, and this was immediately corroborated by the Senate leader, Ali Ndume, who asked Amaechi to take a bow and go.
But other senators disagreed with him, stating that they would ask him questions irrespective of what the PDP caucus had stated.
The Senate president, Bukola Saraki, ruled that the nominee be given the same preferential treatment given to other former legislators, but the senators insisted on asking questions.
The former governor was, however, approved after a series of questions had been asked by the senators, some of whom were his counterparts when he served as the head of Rivers state.
