Wife of Nnamdi Kanu delivers baby boy

Uchechi, wife of the embattled Director of Radio Biafra and leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, on Tuesday, reportedly gave birth to a baby boy at an undisclosed hospital.

The birth of Kanu’s child was announced in a message posted on the Facebook page of Radio Biafra London.
The statement read: “Good morning great Biafrans. With joy in our hearts and celebration of new arrival to IPOB family, our first lady, the wife of our eminent leader, Joshua Nnamdi Kanu, has delivered a healthy baby boy. Mother and child are in good health.”

Nigeria: Christine Lagarde meets Buhari

On Monday evening,it was reported that an international managing director ,Christine Lagarde would meet with Buhari and his Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun. "I look forward to productive meetings ... as they address important economic challenges, most importantly the impact of low oil prices," said Lagarde in a statement.
The statement gave no other details, but the meeting suggests an acknowledgement of Buhari's efforts to revive Africa's largest economy. He was elected in March after a campaign in which he promised to clamp down on the endemic corruption that has left many Nigerians mired in poverty despite the country's enormous energy wealth.
He then announced a record budget for 2016, forecasting a doubling of the deficit to 2.2 trillion naira ($11 billion) and a tripling of capital expenditure intended to help the country adjust to the downturn in oil, which has lost around two-thirds of its value since mid-2014.
It has foreign currency reserves worth around $30 billion, and plans to borrow as much as 900 billion naira abroad to fund the deficit, which is equivalent to 2.16 percent of gross domestic product, Buhari said. Some 984 billion naira would be borrowed at home.
Nigeria relies on crude exports for more than half of state revenues and is Africa's top oil producer. It is also facing an insurgency by Islamist group Boko Haram, which has killed thousands and displaced more than two million people in the remote northeast and raised concern among potential investors.

Zambia Sets Presidential Election Date

Zambia will hold presidential and parliamentary elections on August 11 under a new constitution, a government spokesman has said.

President Edgar Lungu's is expected to assent to the constitutional amendments on Tuesday, ratifying the election date, his spokesman Amos Chanda said on tuesday.

"The new constitution has a fixed election date and that will take effect as soon as the president signs," Chanda said

The elections are expected to be tight contest between Lungu's ruling Patriotic Front (PF) party and Hichilema's opposition United Party for National Development (UPND).

Jewish Israeli passengers force Arabs off Athens-Tel Aviv flight

A group of Jewish Israeli travelers forced the Greek national carrier Aegean Airways to take two Arab co-nationalists off a flight from Athens to Tel Aviv for fear that the pair could be terrorists.

During the incident on tuesday evening, the Israelis stood up and prevented the flight from taking off, the airline said.

“An initially small group of passengers very vocally and persistently asked for two other Israeli passengers to be checked for security issues,” Aegean said in a statement.

As the airport was about to close, the Arab passengers were offered a night in a hotel at the airline’s expense and were promised seats on a flight to Israel the following morning.

Some of the Israelis demanded that the Arabs’ luggage be checked as well, but that request was not met.

Lagos will take rightful place among major cities-Ambode

The Governor of Lagos State,Nigeria, Ambode said this in his welcome address at the 2016 annual thanksgiving service organised by the State Government, held at the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja.

"Despite the bleak economic outlook predicted in many quarters for this year, Lagos State will grow in leaps and bounds.
"We are determined, and God willing, we shall achieve all-inclusive progress and prosperity," he said.
Ambode said that the annual thanksgiving had become a tradition where people gather to seek the face of God for continuous peace and prosperity of the state.
"It is an acknowledgement of the overriding power of God to the affairs of men that there is need to trust in His grace and benevolence as a government and as a people, " he said.
The governor commended all religious leaders for their prayers for the state.
 Prayers were offered for the state by clerics at the event.

How do you even start imagining that you are going to arrest a man like myself? Is that Trump’s head okay? And, are there enough doctors in America to check this man’s psychiatric condition?” Added Mr. Mugabe furiously.

“I have been invited to 5 interviews this year and some few second interviews. Unfortunately, when it gets to the salary negotiation part I fail miserably. In a particular interview, the hiring manager told me that I am an expensive candidate. What should I do during my next interview” writes Hellen Munuhe in an email.
In a recent survey done in Nigeria, a large number of candidates confirm that questions regarding salaries are usually hard for them. In response, here are some of the mistakes you should never commit:

“All salaries are negotiable. “People have this mentality that it is only people in senior positions who can negotiate yet I myself have had to negotiate with people like drivers and cooks. So long as a job is salaried there is always room for negotiation,” says Tom Kamaliki HR Manager at ICAP .
1. Talking about the money too early in an interview is a salary negotiation mistake
The only time you get to ask about the salary is when you already have a job offer. Asking before gives an impression that you are only interested in the money and not the job.
2. Committing too quickly
The employer said an offer a bit higher than you had expected and you say ‘yes’ right away. Even if you like the offer, request for some time to think about the offer, then if allowed give your answer.
3. Not quantifying your value
During the salary negotiation the employer is looking to understand why you are asking for such an amount of money. Don’t just mention the economy and your experience as the justification. Add some quantifiable achievements such as reducing company revenue and how this could translate to their company.
4. Lack of Confidence
Imagine negotiating a salary with your head bent down and the employer cannot hear what you are saying. Will the employer take you seriously? Lack of confidence shows that your skills are questionable and that you are not sure of what you want or whether your skills are worth it.

Be confident and the employer will respect you.
5. Being confrontational
You already got the job offer and even if you think that their salary is too small for your liking, remain calm. A candidate once stormed out of an interview cursing because the offer was too small. Little did he know that it was just a test. Had he waited and remained calm, it would have ended well.
At such times, remain calm and try to re-negotiate.
As much as salary negotiation is a tricky affair, avoiding these mistakes makes it easier for you.

Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon claims that the timing of Pafa Benitez sacking was in order to reduce the amount of compensation paid to the Spaniard.

Benitez was sacked just seven months into his three-year contract, with Zinedine Zidane appointed as his successor on Monday evening.

“They sacked Benitez now because before January 15, they have to pay only one year's salary. After that, they have to pay two. That is the truth,”- Calderon
