Nigerian Builds First Handmade Mini Excavator

A mechanical genius from Imo state has built an amazing prototype excavator which he hopes will bring great benefit to Nigeria.
Fidellis Nwachukwu displayed his prototype excavator at the Abuja international motor fair. He said he has no formal training in engineering or mechanics and that it was in fact a vision from God that inspired him to make the excavator.
“I am truly gifted from God and I have the spirit that enlightens me on what to do,” he said.

Aside from being motivated by what he believes to be divine inspiration, Nwachukwu exhibits a laudable motivation to use his work to help his country.
“I have a lot to offer my country, my plan is to develop this excavator. We all know that Nigeria is technologically challenged, and we Nigerians and the government are ignorant about this. I have a lot to offer my country, my plan is to develop this excavator.”

Donald Trump Calls for Barring Muslims From Entering U.S

Donald J. Trump called on Monday for the United States to bar all Muslims from entering the country until the nation’s leaders can “figure out what is going on” after the terrorist attacks in San Bernardino, Calif., an extraordinary escalation of rhetoric aimed at voters’ fears about members of the Islamic faith.
A prohibition of Muslims – an unprecedented proposal by a leading American presidential candidate, and an idea more typically associated with hate groups – reflects a progression of mistrust that is rooted in ideology as much as politics.
Mr. Trump, who in September declared “I love the Muslims,” turned sharply against them after the Paris terrorist attacks, calling for a data base to track Muslims in America and repeating discredited remours that thousands of Muslims celebrated in New Jersey on 9/11. His poll numbers rose largely as a result, until a setback in Iowa on Monday morning. Hours later Mr. Trump called for the ban, fitting his pattern of making stunning comments when his lead in the Republican presidential field appears in jeopardy.
“Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses, our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life,” Mr. Trump said.

Biafra protest politically motivated - Uwazuruike

Leader of the Movement for the Actualization of Biafra (MASSOB) Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, yesterday apologised to people of the South-east and northerners living in the region over the recent killings and burning of mosque.
Protest by the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) last week, led to killing of about five people and destruction of property in Onitsha, Anambra State.
Addressing newsmen in Owerri, Imo State, Uwazuruike  disassociated members of MASSOB from the protest.

He said the group was against violence and that it was the first to speak about Biafra. Uwazuruike described the protest in the zone as politically motivated, adding that those involved “were expelled from the group because of their reckless action and dubious character”.
He said: “We are apologizing to people of the South-east and Hausas in the region, who were affected by the protest. What they have done is violent and may even endanger the lives of many Igbos in the North”.
Uwazuruike added, “During the protest,  shops were closed down and houses were burnt. That behaviour has even caused people to dislike the struggle”.
He flayed Nnamdi Kanu, for using the Biafra radio station to preach hate messages against the Nigerian government.
“Why must heaven fall because Nnamdi Kanu was arrested? What happened to Benjamin Oneuka who has been in prison because of Biafra?” he said.
He also tackled the Department of Security Service for “refusing to release the  Nnamdi Kanu after the Federal High Court granted him bail”.

Then and Now

According to Wikipedia This is the garage of the Second Nigerian Senate President Prince Nweke Nwafor from 1960 to 1966. I vividly Recall the story of a man who became popular for engaging in money rituals just to buy the 80's edition of the Honda Prelude. You wouldn't buy that car for 50k today.
Some other guy brutally murdered his brother ( whom their father gave cash 2 travel 4 the purpose of re- stocking their warehouse), just cos he wanted to acquire the rave of the moment - Pathfinder Jeep.
That same vehicle is now better described as a coffin. I Remember as a kid, my whole street gathered to watch a truck deliver a very large satellite dish to my neighbour's house. Today a dish one tenth that size delivers 5 times the value and is in almost every student's room.
What about the Volkswagen Santana, Mercedes Benz V boot, 505Evolution, Toyota Crown, all overtaken by latest models of Camry, Honda, Bugatti, Bentley, X6, Acura and Infinity...
Vanity! Some ladies left their true loves cos some rich guy then persuaded them with a Benz 190, which turned out to be the only car they ever owned till date. They found out too late that true love is invaluable. A friend declared drinks because he launched the Nokia Communicator for over hundred grand in 2002. Today that phone would embarrass the owner and is a joke compared to the low cost and everyday phones. What about the MTN SIM card that many people went extra miles before they bought for over 30k, today you will not buy it at N100 because all networks are begging people to even take it for free. People are still making the most horrific sacrifices over 'vanity' and make enemies over worthless material things. What can I say? Look back at that one thing you want to kill or die for today and see what becomes of it tomorrow. There is absolutely nothing you can't achieve. All you need is a little time and PATIENCE and you would thank God without regrets. There is actuallynothing in this world that is worth dieing for, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Meditate on this…

WHAT I LEARNED AT KIRIKIRI MAXIMUM PRISON IN LAGOS

For the first time in my life after i was commissioned as a chaplain officer,i thought it was going to be an easy ride but i never knew that what i was going into was bigger than what i thought.Indeed, the prison is another world on its own. What I used to think about prison, I conceived images of the world’s most wicked. The honest truth is that I saw killers, scammers, drug-dealers, and rapists who have been condemned, but most importantly,i saw our brothers In Christ in prison. When you don't know how to appreciate God and life in freedom, wait until its taken from you and you will see the reaction. After sitting there at their worship services at Kirikiri maximum prison with my other chaplain officer at the prison church, I learned more about Christianity in practice than I ever had at our small church at Abule Egba in Lagos,Nigeria.
Not only did the male inmates take notes as we shared the word of God with them and prayers, they led a worship band, and spoke about failure.
Christianity brings these men hope. One inmate told me, “My life sentence is a gift from God.” My visit to federal prison taught me more about humility, courage, and forgiveness than any philosopher ever could.

Here are the most important things I learned:

1. The prison is populated by human beings, not Aliens.
The men behind the bars are fathers, husbands, sons, and brothers.

2.Prison should be a place of reformation.

If we as a society were to claim that the goal of prison is rehabilitation and reconciliation, rather than simply containment and punishment, criminality and recidivism rates would drop.

3. Getting a job after being in prison is hard.

Even though their time was served, prisoners do not transition back to community easily. According to a National Institute of Justice report, employers pin a negative stigma on formerly incarcerated individuals and are less likely to hire them–Nigerians and Africans are even more than white people.

4. Just because someone is in prison doesn't mean he/she is lazy.

Not only were the inmates I met theologically knowledgeable, but they could quote sections of the federal criminal code that I didn’t even know existed. Inmates are an invaluable resource for advocacy groups trying to change the system, and neglecting to consult them is a mistake.

5. Second chance can save a life.

Many inmates at the prison remain devoid of love, support from family and friends, and mentorship whilst in prison. Christians are called to love all those who are image-bearers of Christ, and that includes even the most broken among us. If our society could foster a culture in which we do not isolate ex-offenders but instead welcome back returning citizens, that small second chance at life can rebuild and restore individuals, families, and communities.
