The danger of eating Hotdogs

Hot dogs are America’s number one treat with more than seven billion of them consumed every summer. They hit the streets in the 19th century when they were introduced by the German immigrants. Soon, they were given an iconic status and became a part of many nations’ eating culture.

Now,Africans,Europeans and Asians now eat hotdogs. When you look at what goes into hot dogs and how they are made, you might be surprised to find out that this much loved food is lurking with health dangers.
Hot Dogs are a Health Hazard
Frankfurters are nutritionally empty processed foods. There is nothing natural about them and the factories produce them in a highly robotized manner at an astonishing rate of 300,000 hot dogs per hour.
Traditionally, hot dogs are made from a mixture of pork, beef and chicken. Leftovers from cutting steaks or pork chops and ‘edible’ slaughter by-products are used. These include fatty tissue, skins, animal feet and heads.

Nitrates and nitrites are the next on the list of problematic additives used in hot dogs. In the presence of high heat they combine with amines in processed meat to form nitrosamines.

It’s the nitro samines that have been linked to cancer – especially colon, bladder, stomach, and pancreas cancer.
According to the American Institute for Cancer Research, one hot dog a day increases your risk for colorectal cancer by 21%. Even organic hot dogs contain nitrite, sometimes even in higher amounts than the conventional hot dogs.

Hot Dogs Contribute to Childhood Obesity
Hot dogs are listed among the unhealthy foods that contribute to increasing rates of childhood obesity, which is of course linked to a myriad of health problems.
If you think you cannot go without hot dogs, then eat them once in a while and go for brands that:
Contain no nitrates.
Say 100% beef, or 100% chicken, so that you know no by-products have been used.
Contain no MSG, corn syrup, preservatives and additives.

Nwaokobia to Igbos:Demand good governance, not Biafra

                       Chris Nwaokobia Jnr III
                                          Chris Nwaokobia Jnr
Head of the Change Ambassadors of Nigeria, CAN,Chris Nwaokobia Jnr, has called on Igbos across the country to demand for good governance from leaders in the zone rather than support the call for Biafra Republic.
Nwaokobia, a political, public and social analyst, gave the impression that the problems facing the region is mostly caused by bad leadership in the region as well as the refusal of the indigenes to question some unfavourable policies of governments of the various states that make up the South-east.
In a Facebook posting concerning the agitation for Biafra, Nwaokobia said: “I know that we have the worst network of Inland Roads in the South East. I see baffling cronyism in state contracting protocols in Igboland.
“I hear fuel sells the highest in Igboland, my brothers hoard the product and sell at awkward times and prices.
“I hear Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has sacked 3,000 workers. And I remember how the former Governor of Abia State, Theodore Orji, sacked all the civil servants in the state who were not from Abia.
“What we need in the South-east is Igbo renaissance, we must overhaul our values and mores.
“We must re-work our worn-out fabric of love and community. And we must insist on responsible and responsive governance within and outside Igboland, not Biafra.”

Gunmen Storm Univerity of Pakistan

A Taliban commander has claimed responsibility for an attack in which at least 19 people died at a university in Pakistan.
Four of the attackers are known to have been killed at the campus building in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, in the country's northwest.
Militants wielding AK-47s used a cover of thick, wintry fog to scale the walls of the Bacha Khan University in the town of Charsadda, about 30km (18 miles) from the city of Peshawar.
They then went into university buildings and began to open fire on teachers and students in classrooms before engaging in a three-hour gunbattle with police and soldiers.
Explosions were heard inside and TV pictures showed heavily armed security personnel heading into the compounds as female students ran for their lives.
