Kenya to spend 10 million dollars deworming 6 million children

                                

The Kenyan government said it will spend 10 million U.S. dollars on drugs to deworm over 6 million school-age children between six and 14 years old.

The ministries of health and education will carry out the exercise to distribute drugs to treat children whether in school or out against intestinal worms and bilharzias, said a statement from the health ministry received on Sunday.

Head of the Neglected Tropical Diseases Unit Dr. Sultani Matendechero said the team is already on the ground conducting advocacy and sensitization campaigns.

Matendechero noted that teachers will be trained in the exercise which is open to pre-school children.

"Pre-school children who are able to come for the drugs will not be sent back. There will be provision for them but their guardians will have to bring them over to schools where we will be conducting the exercise," he said.

The campaign will be carried out in two phases. The first phase will commence on February 28 in 19 counties.

Matendechero explained that the campaign aims at improving the performance of school going children and school attendance and reduce general worm load in the community since school-age children form approximately 25 percent of the population.

"The campaign will therefore go a long way in helping Kenya progress toward meeting the global targets for elimination of worms," Matendechero said.

Over 8 million tablets for intestinal worms and three million tablets for bilharzia which were donated by GlaxoSmithKline and the Merck Group (Merck KGaA) will be distributed in the affected areas.

The Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), the END Fund and Evidence action will also support the drug distribution exercise.

FERMA begins rehabilitation of Third Mainland Bridge

                                  

The Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) has begun rehabilitation of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos to ease difficulty being faced by motorists.

On Sunday,it was revealed that FERMA was removing asphalt on four portions on the Obalende/Church Missionary Society (CMS) bound carriageway.

The engineer in charge of the agency, Lagos East, Mr Tayo Awodun told NAN that the agency was working on both carriageways of the bridge in a manner that would not affect the flow of traffic.

Awodun, however, said that the heavy traffic on the axis was slowing down repair works, but added that the agency usually staggered work between lanes with less traffic to reduce hardship by road users.

“The major work we are doing on Third Mainland Bridge is to mill the distressed surfacing after which we would put asphalt overlay.

“Generally, the challenge we are having is that traffic is ever high on the bridge being one of the major routes for motorists coming to the island.

“We have always studied the traffic situation and we work when we have less traffic, that is why on some days our work spans into the night on the carriageway that has less traffic.

“We put on necessary safety measures when working at night. For the Lagos (Obalende/CMS) Bound carriageway for example, we start work at about noon when the rush hours for those going to work on the island would have been over.

“While for the Oworonshoki bound carriageway, we start work at about 7 a.m. or earlier, till about 2 p.m. when we leave site. We try to move men, materials and equipment out of site before 3 p.m. because by 4 p.m. traffic would be back, with people returning from work,” he said.

The engineer said that FERMA had been on site for over one week, adding that the target of the agency was to complete work on bad portions before May.

THE RAGE OF THE SPIRITS OF BETHSAIDA

“And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him. And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought. And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking. After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly. And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.” Mark 8:22-26

The healing story is different from every other one in the Bible because of  two curious facts.

1. Jesus led the man out of the town.

2. He made two attempts before He could heal him completely.

There are many questions to be asked about the story.

 Why did He lead the man out of the town before healing him?

Why did He tell him not return to that town?

Why did He tell him to keep quiet?

Matthew 11:21.

“Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.”

• If I want certain things to happen in my life, there are certain places I need to be. If I want certain things to happen in my life, there are certain places I need to go. If I want certain things to happen in my life, there are certain places I should not go.

• If you want Jesus to do something great in your life, there are some locations you shouldn’t be.

There is a touch that:

– brings holiness

– makes man’s eyes see clearly.

– makes ones affliction to disappear.

– takes a man from dunghill to sit with princes.

– makes a man know what his destiny is.

 I am convinced tonight that there are people reading this article who will receive that regenerating-touch, that favour-touch and that focus-touch, in the mighty name of Jesus.

PRAY: My Father, touch me by your power, in the name of Jesus.

* Bethsaida was a city that the Lord lamented upon seriously.

• A wrong location can affect a man’s life permanently. 90% of success is correct positioning.

• A wrong location can permanently jeopardize a man’s life.

 May you not die in the wrong location, in the name of Jesus.

  

• When you have stayed in a place for 10 years, 20 years or 30 years and no good thing you could point to; don’t you think it is time to review the location?

• Many should have been very great but because of their location. Many people’s potential cannot manifest because of their location.

• The reason you are having stress is as a result of dislocation. The reason you are having pains is because of wrong location.

• When there is a dislocation and you need to relocate, the relocation too will be painful.

 If your domestic witchcraft and powers of your father’s house has relocated you to the wrong place, let the fire of God relocate you, in the name of Jesus.

• Many are world movers and shakers but their location has brought sorrow, tragedy and frustration.

• This is a lamentable tragedy but true: Some will continue to get into poverty, tragedy, affliction and sorrow until they get out of their location.

The town of Bethsaida is a town:

– that limits a man.

– that buries a man alive.

– that makes one see men as trees.

– that criples a man.

– that will not make a man what he wants to be.

– that will not make a man see the front.

– where all types of relationships are demonic and satanic.

PRAY: O God arise, take me out of my Bethsaida, in the name of Jesus.

Bethsaida is a town:

– that will not allow you see your ways clearly.

– that may not look like a physical geographical thing to you but it may be positional or spiritual.

* Many are calling some people boyfriends but the Bible calls them Bethsaida, many call some people sugar daddies but the Bible calls them Bethsaida and many calls some people old friends while it is Bethsaida the Bible is calling them.

• Location will determine whether your allocation will be given to you or not. Your location in life can determine your destiny.

 Every dislocating powers, assigned against you, shall die in the name of Jesus.

Bethsaida:

– closes what God has done in your life.

– quenches your fire.

– are swallowers of miracles.

Many come to church everyday but they are still exhibiting Bethsaida. God has shown you grace but you didn’t repent. God has blessed you very well but you still didn’t repent. God healed you but you didn’t still repent.

• If the Spirit of God that touched you didn’t lead you to repentance, it is Bethsaida.

Bethsaida Spirit is:

1. Cursed environments

2. Binding curses

3. Limitation powers

4. Miracles diverters

5. Anti-breakthrough sins

6. Anti-breakthrough yokes

7. Besieging sins

8. Evil clouds

9. Bad relatives

10. Environmental witchcraft

11. Miracles resistant

WAY OUT

1. Surrender your life to Jesus.

2. Give Jesus your hands for Him to take you from Bethsaida.

3. Come with Him out of Bethsaida.

4. Follow Him.

5. Vow never to go back to Bethsaida.
