Police arrest man, 40, for raping nine-year-old girl

The police in Bayelsa State have arrested a suspected 40-year-old paedophile for serial rape of nine-year-old girl in the state.
The suspect, whose name was given as Chinedu Eze, alias Chiboy, was arrested by operatives attached to the Akenfa Police Division in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state.

It was learnt that the suspect was apprehended on Saturday following the alarm raised by the mother of the minor.
The victim was said to have told her mother about the incident and complained of severe abdominal pains.
It was learnt that a Bayelsa-based girl child right advocacy group, Operation Rescue, intervened and filed a complaint at the Akenfa Police Division, which led to the arrest of the culprit.
The victim, a Primary four pupil, according to the police, alleged that the man had had raped her many times and always gave her N100 for her to keep silent.
The Coordinator of Operation Rescue, Princess Egbe, confirmed the arrest of Eze, saying the Officer in Charge of Family Welfare at the Akenfa Police Station had assisted the group in conducting a medical test on the victim.
Egbe expressed concern over the rising cases of girl-child defilement in Bayelsa State.
She regretted that in the last four months of 2016, over 10 cases had been reported, noting that others were not reported due to the unavailability of a special desk by the Nigeria Police in the state.

Immigration gate planned in Dubai

A proposed new smart immigration gate at Dubai airport terminals will allow registered passengers through by just scanning their eyes, with no need to scan or check passports or e-Gate cards, a senior official said.
The proposal is still in the planning stages and is not operational at the moment, Captain Khalid Ebrahim Mohammad, head of corporate communications department at the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Afffairs (GDRFA), told news reporters.
His comments came on Wednesday during the fourth Dubai International Government Achievements Exhibition (DIGAE), which is showcasing a model of the proposed Eyen Gate at the DNRD stand. ‘Eyen’ means eye in Arabic.
Capt Mohammad said if the gate is eventually installed, it will at first be for use by UAE residents exiting or re-entering the country. Residents interested in using the gate will first have to register their passport details and eye scan in the Eyen gate system with GRDFA. Once registered, they will be able to pass the gate without lining up to show their passport at passport control counters. The gate will require no documents — be it the passport or e-Gate card — and an eye scanner at the gate will scan the passenger’s eyes and update his or her travel record.
“If the passenger wants, he or she can request for their passport to be stamped with the entry or exit stamp. But that’s up to the passenger,” Capt Mohammad said.

Uber launches motorbike service in Jakarta

Uber has launched a motorbike taxi service in Jakarta, to offer commuters an alternative for getting around the usually congested Indonesian capital.
The app-based car-hire service joins rivals Grab and GoJek, who already have established similar services.
Thousands of taxi drivers protested recently in the Indonesian capital against transport apps.
The drivers said ride-hailing apps such as Uber have made it impossible for them to earn a living in the city.
Uber started operating in Jakarta in the later part of 2014. The car-hire service also operates in other Indonesian cities - Bandung, Surabaya and the popular tourist destination Bali.
It is calling its latest offering "uberMOTOR", which it claims will allow anyone in Jakarta to "push a button and get a motorbike ride in minutes".
The company says its pricing is the "most affordable" in town, with a base fare starting at 1,000 Indonesian rupiah ($0.08; £0.06).
Earlier this year, thousands of cab drivers in Paris also staged a protest against competition from app-based taxi services including Uber.
The Uber service is available in 380 cities around the world. The company has said it is profitable in the US.

Sir Arnold Wesker, British playwright, dies aged 83

Leading British playwright Sir Arnold Wesker, who came to prominence in the late 1950s with his gritty, working class dramas, has died aged 83.
He died on Tuesday night after a long illness, his widow Lady Wesker told reporters.
He first established his reputation with the Wesker Trilogy at the Royal Court theatre in central London.
He wrote more than 40 plays, as well as short stories, essays and poetry over five decades.
One of his most successful plays, Chips with Everything, was inspired by his own experiences in the RAF.
Sir Arnold, who had his plays performed all over the world, was born in the East End of London in 1932 to Jewish communist parents.

Spread culture

He drew on this background for his second play, Chicken Soup with Barley, which was first performed at the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry in 1958.
This formed part of an acclaimed trilogy - completed by Roots and I'm Talking about Jerusalem - that brought working class characters and their struggles centre stage.

He was a leading figure in a generation of writers in the 1950s who became known as "angry young men" - a group that included novelists Kingsley Amis, John Braine and Alan Sillitoe.
This was because of the theme of disillusionment running through their work, although he later rejected this label.
Sir Arnold was keen to spread culture to the layman and set up a theatre venue called Centre 42 at the Roundhouse in London in the early 1960s.
In 1961 he was jailed for demonstrating against nuclear weapons.
Stephen Daldry, the Royal Court's artistic director from 1992 to 1998, remembered him as "one of the most committed and impassioned writers of his generation".
"He was an adventurer and delight in the rehearsal room, who challenged and stretched every director he worked with," Daldry continued.
"With his passing... we are beginning to lose the voices of a generation that shaped theatre as we understand it today."

China offers Nigeria $6b loan to fund projects

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari (L) and Chinese President Xi Jinping(R)

China has offered Nigeria a $6 billion loan to fund infrastructure projects, Minister of Foreign Affairs Geoffrey Onyeama told reporters on President Muhammadu Buhari’s delegation, according to Reuters.
“It is a credit that is on the table as soon as we identify the projects,” Onyeama said, adding: “It won’t need an agreement to be signed; it is just to identify the projects and we access it.”
Also yesterday, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Ltd (ICBC) , the world’s biggest lender, and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) signed an agreement on yuan transactions, a Chinese Foreign Ministry official said.
“It means that the renminbi (yuan) is free to flow among different banks in Nigeria and the renminbi has been included in the foreign exchange reserves of Nigeria,” Lin Songtian, director general of the Foreign ministry’s African Affairs department, told reporters.
The agreement was reached following a meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The CBN and Zenith Bank backed the Memorandum of Understanding signed between a Nigerian company and a Chinese firm to establish a mining plant in Nigeria this year.

Be A Lifter Of Others!!!

It's not enough for you to be lifted, God is expecting you to be a lifter of those around you.

When men are cast down, you will say there is a lifting up.
It's your responsibility to say what you want to see in your life because what you say is what you will get.

The power for lifting is in your mouth.
To be lifted means to be elevated, improved in the quality of life, appreciated, move from a lower position to a higher one, moved upward, invigorated or heighten etc.

How can I be a lifter of others?

The best way to have God's lifting is for you to be a lifter of those around you. You can lift others in your world through your words, resources, finance, knowledge, wisdom, encouragement etc.

Teach others of what you know.  Be a channel not a container
Be a giver not just a receiver, be a helper not the one looking for help.
Be an answer to someone's questions and a solution to somebody's problem, Be a miracle to your world.

See and bring out ability in others not looking for their disabilities.
See the good in those around you not their wrongs.

Don't be the one bringing others down with your mouth... Remember, when you speak hurtful and evil words about others, you destroy the programme of good in you. Love others the way they are because God love them. Value them.

Don't talk down your Nation nor your leaders...  Rather, bless them with the blessings of God.
Don't say what you are seeing but say what you want to see.
Your words are seeds, they will germinate to produce results in 4wks, 3months,5yrs,10yrs later so make sure you plant them well.

I bless the president of my country today , the ministers, senators, house of Representatives, Governors and local government chairmen. The wisdom of God function in them and they are doing the right things.
Appreciate others don't depreciate them,  Be a lifter of others.

Can a sad person come to you and be happy after spending time with you?
Can a hungry person come to you and be filled?
Can an angry person come to you and change his mind afterward?
Can an ignorant person come across you and become a better person?
Are people very comfortable gossiping around you?

Pastor Chris defined success " success is making people or places better than the way you met them".

Can people give thanks to God for coming across you? Are you succeeding?

When you see people in their distress and needs it should be your opportunity to lift them up.
Successful people are lifter of others....

I was born for this generation and I will lift those around me from today onward.

God is counting on you!!!
Do have a great day......
