GTBank payment solution enables receipt of Western Union funds via ATMs

GTBank plc has introduced an e-payment solution that allows customers receive Western Union funds directly into their GTBank account via any of the Bank’s Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) in Nigeria. The service is also available on the Bank’s Internet Banking platform (www.gtbank.com).
The introduction of this service coincides with a time when the need to move money quickly, reliably and much more conveniently across international borders has risen rapidly.
This has necessitated an increased demand for digital solutions to aid payments, transfers, and remittances. As a bank renowned for innovative solutions, the bank takes pride in leveraging technology to make life better for its customers by creating value oriented products suited to their varied needs.
To receive Western Union funds via any GTBank ATM nationwide, customers simply need to press any key on the ATM; click the Western Union option; agree to terms and conditions; select account type; select the country where the funds were sent from (sending country), and where country is not available, enter the sending country code/ISO Code; enter the expected amount in naira; enter the GTBank NUBAN account of the receiving party; and enter the 10-digit Money Transfer Control Number.
 Upon confirmation of the transaction, the transfer amount will be credited into the receiving GTBank account. This service does not require a GTBank debit or credit card, or a security token device.

Siasia eyes Olympic soccer gold

Coach of the National U-23 Team, Dream Team VI, Samson Siasia, says he is optimistic that Nigeria will win the Rio 2016 Olympics football.
Siasia said this on Monday shortly on arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Dream Team VI defeated their Algerian counterpart 2-1 in Saturday’s final of the CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal to win the trophy.
“I am looking forward to what we can achieve in Rio. We were there in 2008 and we got to the finals.

“If we start on time with our preparations, we might be able to do something,” he said.
Siasia advised the players to remain focused and try not to allow the victory to get into their heads.
“I want the boys to be hardworking and remain disciplined, just as they did during the Africa Cup of Nations,” he said.
Siasia expressed joy that Nigeria won the cup, adding: “I thank Nigerians for their prayers and support for the team.”

Roads In Nairobi That Have Been Closed For WTO Conference

Five key roads with the city centre have been closed as global leaders are meeting in Nairobi for the 10th ministerial conference of the World Trade Organisation (WTO). 
According to State House spokesperson Manoah Esipisu, the roads are:
1. Parliament Road
2. Harambee Avenue
3. City Hall Way
4. Taifa Road and
5. Wabera Street.
The roads will be closed until Friday December 18, 2015.

Twenty years since the WTO was formed, Kenya will become the first country in Africa – categorised as the Least Developed Countries – to hold the 10th Ministerial Conference of the WTO that has been dubbed MC10 and to be held between December 15 and 18, 2015.

As Kenya Hosts WTO 10th Ministerial Conference

Kenya will once again be in the global spotlight as it becomes the first African country to hold a ministerial conference of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) starting today Tuesday December 15, 2015.

Twenty years since the WTO was formed, Kenya will become the first country in Africa – categorised as the Least Developed Countries (LDC) – to hold the 10th Ministerial Conference of the WTO that has been dubbed MC10 and to be held between December 15 and 18, 2015.

 The agenda is the current trade-negotiation round of the WTO which commenced in November 2001 and aims to achieve major reform of the international trading system through the introduction of lower trade barriers and revised trade rules. 

In the case of the Doha round, that means cutting import taxes – which are known as tariffs – on everything from wheat to cars to lingerie.
