They Worked Against Me Because I'm An Igbo - Onyeka Onwenu

                                                               Onyeka Onwenu

I think it is time to address this "They Hate us because we are Igbo" syndrome. We need to stop these ethnic jingoists in their tracks before they poison the minds of the youths and make they believe that they are perpetual victims of a fathom ghost. When these looters have their way, they do not play the Igbo card, as soon as they are exposed, they play the victim card and you need to listen to how some of their followers repeat this divisive lines on both traditional and new media. This phenomenon has been formed into a negative cliche known as "Igbophobia." A simple experiment will help put this in proper perspective; Google "Ijawphobia", "Yorubaphobia", "Ibibiophobia", "Hausaphobia" and "Igbophobia" for you to see who among all these tribes attach the term 'phobia' when describing the attitude of others towards them and extent of the usage of the term online. Here are the results:
Igbophobia: 7,980
Hausaphobia: 43
Ijawphobia: 51
Yorubaphobia: 303
Ibibiophobia: 3
This Victimhood attitude is so pronounced that an Igbo author, Obi Ogbuagu wrote a book titled : " WHY THEY HATE US."
One of the reasons Radio Biafra had lots of listeners was because of this "Others vs Us" herd mentality. I am yet to see Dasuki or any northerner come out to claim their ordeals is as a result of their tribe, Tafa Balogun, Bode George never mentioned the fact that they were hounded because they are Yoruba. Jonathan has not come out to say he lost elections because he is Ijaw. Why must our compatriots always play the ethnic-victimhood card anytime they are bursted?
I put it to all our compatriots from the South East, life is a game and in competition you win and loose. There will always be tribalists and bad people in all tribes including yours just as there will be good people too. We must learn to see people as humans for that is we all are. These idiots fanning these divisions have their shops in the South West and North of Nigeria, they own houses there, at least, I can speak for the South West, I am yet to read of any place in the South West where the Igbo are prevented from owning houses because of their tribe or prevented from running their businesses because of their tongue.
We all experience the same plight due to bad leadership, we should jointly fight our common enemies. Below are some of the nonsense from these tribalists:
