Boxing legend Muhammad Ali died Friday evening at a Phoenix hospital, according to a press release from family spokesperson Bob Gunnell. He was 74 years old.
Ali was hospitalized with a respiratory issue, and his family released a short statement earlier, acknowledging the hospitalization and stating that his condition at the time was “fair.”
The family says his funeral will be held in Ali's hometown of Louisville, although the spokesman didn't specify a date.
Ali will be remembered as one of the most recognized figures worldwide -- after winning boxing's heavyweight title 3 different times ... with the first coming in a KO of Sonny Liston in 1964.
