The Nigerian Federal Road Safety Commission has blamed expired and fake tyres for the many road accidents across Cross River State,Nigeria.
Cross River Sector Commander of the FRSC, Ikechukwu Igwe, states fake tyres were responsible for more than 3000 car accidents in the states last year.
According to Igwe, most Nigerians still prefer to use old tyres despite regular sensitisation campaigns.
Car owners are advised to always check they expiry date of their tyres, this will ensure they do not buy fake ones.
