His Excellency Right Hon Simon Lalong
Plateau State Government have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Roughton International London (UK) Limited in collaboration with Cynergy Associates Consortium for the redevelopment and enhancement of the burnt Jos Main Market.
The first phase of the contract on redevelopment of the market is to cost the state government N230 million.
Jos Main Market was razed by fire in 2002 under questionable circumstances and had remained in that condition until now that Governor Simon Lalong, on assumption of office last year, vowed to rebuild it.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Ezekiel Daju, the State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, who signed the MoU on behalf of the state government, said the Jos Main Market remained a critical project for the development of the state and urged the Roughton Company to use the project to attract investors to the state.
