For he who would love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil and his lip from speaking deceit. Let him turn away from evil and do good. Let him seek peace and pursue it” 1st Peter 3:10-11
The words that proceed out of a woman’s mouth must be such that is seasoned with grace at all time. It must not be such that it will hurt or bring people down. It is not about washing your mouth that makes it clean but following biblical principles.
It takes more than washing our mouths with soap to be a woman of clean lips. It takes the power of the Holy Spirit, the touch of God and a personal decision. Our part is to cooperate with Him, submit our words to Him, fill our lives with Him and live our lives through Him.
You have the ability to give someone hope by offering a simple word of acknowledgement. Deborah’s words of encouragement spurred Barack to become all God had called him to be. Instead of pulling or tearing down with your tongue, you can build up with positive words as Deborah did.
Gossip as we all know does not bring any good but causes a great damage within a short time. People with great minds discuss ideas, people with mediocre minds discuss events, while those with small minds discuss other people. Which category are you?
Only when we submit our tongues to God will we have the ability to use our words for good. We must allow the holy spirit to work in us so we can produce the fruit he wants.
