The Gambia President-elect, Adama Barrow, has been sworn in
at the country’s embassy in Dakar, the Senegalese capital.
The oath of office was administered on the new President at
6:02 p.m. Nigerian time.
In his inaugural address, Barrow thanked Nigeria’s
President, Muhammadu Buhari, who is the chairman of the ECOWAS Mediation Group,
Liberia’s Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, Macky Sall of Senegal, ex- President John
Mahama of Ghana, ECOWAS, African Union and other international organisations for
their commitment to democratic principles in Gambia.
