French retailer Intermarché has opened two hypermarkets in
Portugal since the start of the year.
In Santa Iria da Azóia, the company reopened an existing
store, featuring a new concept that allows for a simpler and quicker shopping
experience. Among the services offered by the new look hypermarket are a bar,
cafeteria, take away, wine cellar and restaurant, based on traditional
Portuguese cuisine.
A 'Drive' service will also be available soon, enabling
customers to shop online and pick goods up at the store when it suits them.
Elsewhere, Intermarché also opened a new hypermarket in
Gafanha da Nazaré, the 244th store in the retailer’s network.
The new openings form part of the company's 2015-2020
expansion plan, which anticipates the opening of 63 stores by 2020, taking the
total to 294, and an investment of €200 million.
