At least 126 hostages have been freed from the Splendid Hotel and the Cappuccino Cafe across the road after security forces launched an operation in the early hours of Saturday.Also 30 people at another hotel were killed.Gunmen launched the assault on the hotel and restaurant around 8.30am local time on Saturday.But as security minister Simon Compaore announced troops, supported by French military, had retaken the buildings and freed the hostages, he said a new assault had started at the Yibi Hotel.
