Not long ago, the marriage of some close
friends—I'll call them Daniel and Ebele—suddenly imploded. We did
everything we could to stand with them in their crisis to speak hope for
their future together. Unfortunately, their marriage didn't survive.
I'll never forget a conversation I had
with Ebele in Aba,in Abia State one day. Through her crying, she said, "He worked so hard
for a year to take us on that amazing trip to Abuja. But all I
really wanted was for him to put his arm around me at church!"
Here is my own view on how married women can be useful to themselves and their home:

Those who do not have skill should develop skills to make them employable.

Save
little by little to gather the capital that will be enough to start her
choice business
a.
Food
Items: food is a basic necessity. What you eat is somebody’s business. One
can look at consumables that are in high demand on a daily basis to start with
at least people eat once a day.
b.
Fashion
Services: One can learn tailoring and the business side of it. You can sell
accessories that come with sewing cloths I.e. shoes, bags, belts Etc. simply
say what you spend money buying can also be a money generating idea for you.
c.
Laundry/Cleaning
Services: Women are excellent home keepers. One can offer services for
people who hardly have time but can afford paying someone to do it.
d.
Educational
Services: As population increases the need for education grows. One can
start a home lesson for students. One can also make supplies of stationeries,
school toiletries, school uniforms, etc.
e.
Livestock
Farming: Poultry farming for its meat or eggs can also be an additional
source of income too.
f.
Daily
home/ house needs: Items that we use when we wake up til we go to bed can
be a source of income too. Toothpaste, brush, roll on, towel Etc.
g.
Confectionaries
and Event Management: Women are wired to do many things. You can use your
skill to help plan and manage people’s occasion. There is a cake for every
occasion. Food that taste very sweet like cakes, candies, sweetmeats are
favorites for women.
h.
Distributorship/Dealership:
Dealership of popular products/brands high in demand is a good choice.
i.
Business
Support Services i.e. photocopy, scanning, faxing, internet services etc.
j.
Salon/Beauty Products or Services: Looking good
is good business. Learn it and turn it into business.
4.
She
should exploit her talent E.g. if she is able to write a book, or she can
plait hair, she should do it.
5.
She can also go into petty trading.
6.
Encourage her husband to diversify his income.
7.
She can prayerfully
go into partnership with other women who have the women to sponsor the
business.
8.
She should help
her children to exploit their talent.
9.
She must be
a titer.
10.
Pray for financial help and breakthrough.
11. Join
a co-operative.
12. Grow
your own food.
