Russia have signed several agreements with India for the purchase of air-defence missile systems, guided missile frigates and light utility helicopters (LUHs) worth around INR720 billion (USD10.8 billion).
These include two inter-governmental agreements (IGAs) to buy five S-400 Triumf (SA-21 'Growler') surface-to-air missile systems for the Indian Air Force (IAF) for over USD5.5 billion and four Project 1135.6 Talwar-class (Krivak III) guided missile frigates for the Indian Navy (IN), two of which will be built locally, for around USD4 billion.
A USD1 billion joint venture (JV) was also signed between affiliates of the Russian Technologies State Corporation (Rostec) and India's Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to support the construction in India of 200 twin-engine Kamov Ka-226T 'Hoodlum' light multirole helicopters for the IAF and the Army Aviation Corps (AAC).
