Barack Obama is due to meet Angela Merkel to discuss Syria
and Russian sanctions after the US President arrived in Berlin.
The two leaders are expected to hold talks later today
followed by a news conference at which they will raise the issue of Syria, a
source said.
Barack Obama and Angela Merkel will be joined on Friday by
Theresa May and the leaders of France, Italy and Spain when they will discuss
extending sanctions imposed on Russia for its intervention in Ukraine.
Possible new sanctions for Vladimir Putin’s army bombing
Syria, killing hundreds of civilians, will also be discussed by the six
